Yea that is the lie that the conspiracy theory idiots were pushing.

Oh wait... you don't actually believe that do you? Nah there is no way, that would just be pathetic.

That's the kind of scaremongering you got from Sean Hannity. The reality is that now ISPs can do it which is far more likely than the government. Plus, if the government attempted it, that would end up as a SCOTUS case and it would be declared unconstitutional.

The conservative opposition to net neutrality can only be explained by ignorance and paranoia.

Don't host your blog on a third party platform (ie Wordpress.com), they have the right to determine what they will or will not host.

Was this site hosted by Wordpress or self hosted? I would imagine the former but checking.

I don't listen to Hannity. It's just what big government types and elite liberals do. You are seeing it happen now.

It's really not a stretch when you put the pieces together.

Net Neut would have regulated the ISPs to some extent. At some point, the government would feel the need to monitor the bandwidth, so then they install equipment in the "pipes" to measure the data. Once they get their mits on the bandwidth, do you think it's a stretch for them to start blocking certain content? That will affect the entirety of the US internet and makes them equivalent to leaders in China and Iran.

They will never come out and do it in one sweeping action, it's always bit by bit - just like ObamaCare. You don't take over the health care system in one action. You do it piece by piece.

This is not about conspiracy theories. It's about understanding who they are.

Uh, how much do you know about Wordpress?

For about $5 a month you can get your own copy installed on any of your own servers (GoDaddy, etc.) and do whatever you want with it. I personally know Islamophobes that do that....

What you are really saying is "people who are too ignorant to push a couple buttons and pay $5-$7 a month may not have free speech if they use a corporate site.

Does that sound right?

Oh, and if one doesn't want to use Wordpress, there are MANY free and cheap alternatives.

It is not illegal it is their property. If they only want to allow left wing speech on their property they are allowed to do that. If they only want to allow right wing speech, they are allowed to do that too.

Under your socialist paradigm we COULD start forcing Alex Jones to host articles from CNN.

Knowing the lack of knowledge of the internet...by the "conservative" crowd, it was the former....and they don't understand the basics so they yell and scream and then their minions repeat their BS all over the internet.

If we would have know that people were so clueless, we wouldn't have started the interweb. Obviously we need a "poll test" for people to take before they are allowed to post or create web sites.

Yeah, there are two versions of Wordpress, so to speak.

Wordpress.com is a host. It's free, though there are paid plans. You can get a custom URL. They are acting as your host and have a TOS, etc. This is likely what they had.

Wordpress.org is where you can download the Wordpress framework to use and self host, whether using a company or your own servers, etc. More freedoms by far vs Wordpress.com. I use this for my blogs.
