"A spin?" I would say the catholic is now also committing hate crimes against homosexuals by blaming them!

The Catholic Church has not approved “ reparative therapy”, very different than more fundamentalist Christian Churches.

Some Catholic parishes reach out to the LGBTQ community and some parishes deny membership to the LGBTQ community.

The cath. church has developed an organization "Courage International", similar to the 12-step program for alcoholics, that "helps" homosexuals to remain abstinent. I am sure there is lots of prayer involved.

Courage International, also known as Courage Apostolate and Courage for short, is an approved apostolate of the Catholic Church that counsels "men and women with same-sex attractions in living chaste lives in fellowship, truth and love". Based on a treatment model for drug and alcohol addictions used in programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Courage runs a 12-step program aimed at helping gay people remain abstinent from sex

Then I do not understand your point. We agree that it's a bad thing when, in your words, " molesters can just move on to molest again and again". The Catholic church facilitated this. And you're saying people shouldn't "get on their high horse", because it may happen in other churches without the active participation of higher levels of clergy? Sorry, can't follow you at all.

"Your same-sex attraction is a horrible moral failing and you will burn in hell if you act on it! Also, the Church provides a career for those willing to subdue their sexuality and remain celibate." What did they expect? Of course devout young Catholic men who are attracted to other men will at least consider becoming clergy. It's their holy duty to never act on their sexuality and if they have to give that up as an act of religion, well - then they've already checked one box on the priest qualification list.

Just accept the truth of the matter and stop trying so hard to protect a sick group of people, homosexual predators.
I attended co-ed Catholic Schools , back when. There was no interaction between priests and female students at any of the schools I attended. Boys got to do the cool stuff and serve as alter boys and play sports, coached by a priest. Girls cleaned toilets and scraped wax out of voltive candles, under the close supervision of a nun.

It was common knowledge a particular priest made some boys uncomfortable and it was understood to avoid him. Nothing specific and frankly most kids, including me, were naive about sex.

It amazes me how much pain, strife and wars the worship of imaginary deities have caused over millennia...The world would be a much better place with no religion at all.

It isn't homosexuals, it's pedophiles. These dopes sound smarter when they just shut their mouths and bless people.
The bigots do their best to equate homosexuality and pedophilia and sadly in this day in age too many individuals still lack the discernment to differentiate. It's a politically motivated statement.

Non- Catholic private schools never had the depth and breadth of the Catholic Educational System and recordkeeping of the Catholic educational system.

Used to be ( 1970’s and earlier) that teachers in most Catholic Schools at the primary level were nuns who took the vow of poverty. Catholic Education was relatively cheap because there was no payroll and the parish subsidized the physical structures. States were often lax about accreditation, especially for primary and secondary private education.

Nuns aged out of the system and the church was unable to maintain replacement levels and/ or meet evolving state accreditation requirements. The overwhelming majority of educators in Catholic Schools today are lay people. Most do not make what they could in public education. The highest cost of running any private school is by far employee costs, salary, payroll taxes and healthcare insurance. As such, tuitions have soared because the church can no longer rely on cheap labor of nuns who took vows of poverty.
I spent 12 years in Catholic schools and did not see or hear of anyone being molested, but sadism was rampant especially among the nun teachers...They were sneaky and just plain evil.

As a Catholic, it's time for Rome to follow the orthodox Christians in allowing marriage among priests. I believe in orthodox religions you can have a wife if you are married before the priesthood. It's not allowed if you were not married before though. I think this is a good middle ground.
