In all fairness, I have to say that celibacy doesn't lead to peodphilia. If anything, pedophilia is an orientation, as one thread on here a few months ago pointed out. I know in our sex-crazed age (I'm an atheist, btw) it's popular to attribute celibacy, including involuntary celibacy (not Incel(TM)) to all sorts of psychological difficulties, but I see no evidence that is true (but involuntary celibacy is another topic). I suppose modern pop culture is just as ignorant about sexual psychology as even the most ardent fundamentalists.

The interesting thing about pedophilia is you see it most in deeply conservative, sexually repressive subcultures such as the Catholic Church and the Independent Fundamental Baptist church. Pedophilia is rarely a problem in “anything goes” post-sexual revolution liberal society. It’s more common among “family values” Republican politicians and religious clergy. It occurs in environments where “purity culture” is pretty much forced and the entire topic of sexuality is taboo. Why is that?
