Alan Derschowitz was just on the radio saying Trump could have called up those 2 women, said "I'm going to send you $150K to keep your mouth shut," written them a personal check, and it would not be a crime. I trust Alan more than I do some of you armchair critics, although I'll admit it's sometimes fun to see your heads blowing up.
He did not do that. He told his fixer Cohen to do it. To hide it. Just like everyone says, The coverup is the worst thing to hide.
The difference between Trump and Edwards is there is a direct line to Trump ordering the payments (from statements given by Cohen). Also the proximity to election day definitely indicates the reason for Trump to make the payment was election related while Edwards was much much further out from a significant date.
Even with those lesser incriminating facts Edwards had a jury trial facing 6 felony charges and was only acquitted on one while the other 5 charges the jury hung on.
Seems that Trump should expect a jury trial in his future. Hopefully CNN can get a camera in that courtroom. Would out rate the O.J. trial.
Cohen said that trump was a co-conspirator, but not under oath in a court of law.
Yes-he was under requirement to tell the truth or he can lose his deal and have lot more harsh treatment
Just because you didn't see him sit in the witness chair and be sworn in don't assume he was not under compulsion of truthfulness...
