It could probably be done in a day because the first step is to interview Ms Ford, whereupon they will have no "facts" to investigate.

really? do an investigation on a party of 4 boys in 1982 in a house that nobody knows and the accuser doesn't know anybody in the party except for the 2 boys she accused which they denied.

did the party ever existed in the first place? how does the FBI proves that exact party existed without a date and house?

how do you do an investigation where the investigators don't know what they are looking for.....no dates, no house....no people except the accuser and the 2 boys she mentioned?

Let us see if you can get sufficient support to get her to step down for obstruction of justice for poor Dr. Ford. I bet there won't be enough democrats clamoring for it.

As regards to investigation - what are they going to investigate? No time or place of incident. Not under FBI jurisdiction.

And finally both of us are smart and intelligent enough to know that this has nothing to do with finding the truth and all to do with delaying the vote. And both of us know if th tables were turned the democrats will try and rush it through before Nov 6 and republicans will try and stall it.

It is politics, not justice.

tic toc poor dr. ford....
Why are the Pubs squirming and scrambling so hard to force him through so quickly?

After all, they held up a SC seat for nearly 10 months and then even claimed they'd keep it open for 4 years, if it suited their agenda.

They're political professionals. What is it they're looking into the future and seeing that causes them to behave like starving hyenas on a rotting corpse, fighting over scraps of a stinking trickle-down agenda?

What are they SO afraid of?

I don't really care whether it actually happened or not. It was over 30 years ago when they were in high school. The time to have said something was 30 years ago if it actually happened. This is why we have a statute of limitations for criminal prosecution on such things. It is so someone can't hang on to something someone did for most of their life and then all of the sudden decide they want to use it against them. We could probably dig some dirt up on just about anybody. We all do something stupid at one point or another and it is usually in high school or early 20's. This would be a complete waste of the FBI's resources because it really doesn't matter whether it happened or not at this point 30 something years later. It isn't like he could be charged with anything.

I doubt it will prevent Kavanaugh from being confirmed but if it does, they better be ready because the next pick will probably swing way to the conservative side just out of spite.

When she made her post she felt "empowered": "In my [Facebook] post, I was empowered and I was sure it probably did [happen]," Miranda told NPR.

Apparently empowered feeling comes and goes. She's back to normal now.
sounds like a sickness. hope she doesn't relapse.

Those distinctions matter if you're on trial, but when determining the character of an individual who will be receiving a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court of the United States of America, I DO care whether or not this guy tried to rape someone. Whether he succeeded or not is irrelevant.

This is about his character.
No it's not. It all about his POLITICS else Bill Clinton and/or Hillary Clinton would have been drummed out of politics decades ago.

This occurred in Maryland.

In Maryland, the criminal statute of limitations varies depending on the severity of the offense. The criminal statutes of limitations include:
Felony sexual offenses: no statute of limitations

I'm not saying he did. I'm not saying he did not.

I'm saying that we should take allegations like this VERY seriously.

People always ask why women never come forward until much later...

Well, this is how they get treated when they DO come forward, so tell me, would you WANT to come forward earlier, while something that upsetting is still fresh and you're still in a vulnerable state?

I wouldn't.

People who were not there and have no clue what happened will send you death threats, for god's sake.

This is all sheer lunacy.

I hate to pull this old nugget out, but if this woman was someone you DO care about, would you be so blase about it now?

Are these serious questions and statements?

She has to prove it because a person is presumed innocent until PROVEN guilty. That is one of the foundations of our democracy. It protects you and I from being falsely accused and imprisoned.

Don't you know this?

I come and accuse you of embezzlement or being a purveyor of kiddy porn. I would think you would want me to PROVE it.

Come on! Really, come on. You and others don't want another Conservative justice. I get that. I did not want Sotomayer because she had taken advantage of Affirmative Action.

But it wasn't against the rules. So I live with it and last time I looked, her sitting on the SCOTUS did not cause the world to end.

It is frightening that you and others are ready to dispense with everything that benefits you in a vain attempt to prevent someone from being appointed.
