It should be an individual's choice whether or not they need to "pack heat" when they go out of the house.
This is a weird post.
I have no problem with people having a gun/guns for self-defense or hunting or whatever, as long as they pass a background check and register the gun. And I'd prefer if they have to take a gun safety class when they get their first gun and re-take the quiz every five years or something, mostly because I think that would cut down on the number of children who get their hands on guns. People in general can be really dumb about things like that. I know it would be annoying for those who know the safety rules, but it's like anything else, really... I have to take a quiz every year to prove that I still understand the government rules regarding my volunteer position, even though I've been doing this for many years. Takes me about 15 minutes once per year, which I think most would find reasonable. Fail the quiz and you need to retake the class.
But to say that someone who doesn't feel the need for a gun must live where there are no snakes, bears, or criminals is very odd. I live where there are snakes, alligators, and even the occasional bear or panther. And of course there are some criminals. But I've never felt like I needed a gun to protect myself from any of these. Wildlife generally stays away from people if precautions are taken. And I don't go around shooting jaywalkers or people whom I suspect are drug dealers or people driving erratically. I'm assuming you don't, either. I am not in the habit of fraternizing with super shady people, so I'm really just not worried that I'm going to be the victim of a life-threatening crime. I suppose it's possible that I'll be randomly targeted by a madman, but it isn't likely... and even if that were to happen, I probably would not be able to load a gun and shoot them to save myself. Those with more training
I can see wanting a gun if you are afraid of a home invasion for a rational or irrational reason or maybe if you need to walk through a dangerous area at night on a regular or occasional basis, but for the vast, vast majority, a gun will never be needed to defend yourself.
Fine if you want to have one, but don't think that those who don't feel the need live in a Utopia of personal safety. It could just be that they don't see things like big spiders and snakes and strangers as threats to their lives.

I'm not sure why you believe illegal immigrants have a right to be in this country. Last I checked there was a legal way of doing it.
The left is to first to whine about how evil capitalism is, yet it's just not evil enough to discourage illegal immigrants from coming. Imagine that.
