Can we now get term limits as we know this has to be implemented as we can’t have more of the same.

Someone chosen by the people and voted to Congress and/or Senate should not be allowed to stay on if they get so sick that there will not be a chance of recovery. The voters should have a representative that is able to work or a time line when they can return to the job even if that takes a while but if no future on the job is possible then the law should be that the person steps down.

The 25th Amendment for the President already has that built in, allowing the Vice President or successor to be put in their place. So if the President is not able to fulfill their obligations then a successor is put in their place. Example a if the President has a heart attack or dies in office.

But we do need term limits, no more than 2 consecutive terms and then they must sit out at least one term.

We already have term limits. We get the chance to exercise them every 2 years.

The problem with term limits is that Congress is being continually restocked with inexperienced lawmakers which puts more power in the hands of lobbyists and special interest groups.

Term limits, like voting will accomplish nothing except change the name of the thief and killer.
I present to you as evidence 200 some years of governance that have resulted in greater taxation, continual loss of freedoms, and perpetual war.

Term limits for congress was already tried during the Clinton administration with the republican 'Contract with America' and was declared unconstitutional by the courts.

Why? Because you don't like the current administration's picks...I bet you would like the picks by the opposing party wouldn't you?

When I saw the title of this thread my first thought was "oh boy we have a Democrat here that is trying to reduce the influence of the GOP in congress" but then I noticed this thread was started by BB so we can have an intelligent discussion. Whacka Whacka !

Back in the day it was an honor to serve and when the term was over the guy would go back to his business.

It is ridiculous today that we can have a Senator holding a seat for decades and getting rich at the public trough.

There comes a time when a Senator becomes to out of touch with his/ her constituents and only views life and the ups and downs of society within the bubble of DC.

So what should be allowed? Is 2 terms enough for any politician?

Can the President sign an executive order? Wouldn’t that be amazing?

Unlimited terms gives them the time and chance to take their of their families and future generations. Doesnt affect America much, but the richest families in the other parts of the world are multi generation politicians.
