All tRump needed to do was to quietly observe McCain' passing with some low profile acknowledgement.

He proved himself once again to be incapable of simple common decency.

Does anyone know why it is that tRump came out in 2015, early in his campaign, with such hate and vitriol aimed at McCain?

Was it because McCain showed courage and served America while tRump used his dad's influence to avoid serving?

After all, NO tRUMP has EVER served in the military.

Cowardice is their family tradition.

If your respect was real, you would take note when vets had to shame Trump into demonstrating respect for a soldier's service and sacrifice.

You can hate McCain for his politics all you want, but Trump openly disrespected his service and sacrifice. That is something else, and it is pathetic, especially pathetic coming from a man who ran the other way when called to serve.
Here’s a brief history of their differences :

It does not mention that Trump blamed Hillary and Mc Cain for the Iraq War Resolution while ignoring his VP voted for it.

There is no upside to disparaging a POW or a Gold Star Family.
No one with reasonable emotional maturity/ impulse control would go there.

Expected among republicans you mean. McCain actually exemplified that expectation. When the left(or the Bushes for that matter) hit him hard instead of hitting back he tried to give the appearance of taking the "high road". He became known as a very graceful loser. The time for conservatives to be graceful losers has come to an end.

Don't speak ill of the dead -- it serves no purpose.

There is no upside to Trump's behavior. None.

And yes -- some will justify, rationalize -- blame liberals, the media, John McCain.

Trump behaved like a child.
What's even more embarrassing -- for him -- he had to back down. It further highlights the childish, spiteful behavior.

If “ Did not Vote” was a candidate in 2016, it would have won in a landslide.

Not every one of the 1/3 ish who voted for Trump drank the kool- aid. I am one of them.

Some voted against Hillary.

Some thought he would moderate his tweets, rhetoric and toxicity, once elected.

Some overlooked Trump’s immature emotional temperament.

Some believed numerous campaign promises to deliver better healthcare at a fraction of today’s cost.

Some believed he would release his tax returns as he promised to do.

Some vote Republican, no matter who.

Trump’s core base is a fraction of the number who voted for him.

At rallies - Trump's base frothed at the mouth while they chanted for McCain to die.

They are AWFUL.

Doesn't matter. McCain asked that Trump not come to his funeral because of McCain's family. He didn't want his wife, children, loved ones to be uncomfortable or put in a position where they had to ask the President not to come.

Trump obviously doesn't like the man so why would he be offended he was told/asked not to go to the service. And the only reason that became public knowledge is because Trump doesn't have the decency, diplomacy, character to know when not to show up....so they made sure he knew.

Trump has no manners, has no compassion he does everything for himself.

Someone needed to explain to him a polite, respectful statement and leaving the flag at half mast would make Trump look good. That's all he wants. He wants the ratings people. He doesn't care what happens as long as he gets the ratings.

Get over yourselves. What exactly did Trump do that is so awful? So you say Trump is awful for some unknown reason but McCain is a saint meanwhile he started the entire spat between them?
