Simple enough solution-enforce vagrancy laws on the books, or pass them if they aren't in place. There is no right to set up your home on someone's sidewalk, let alone to crap in public.

...Back in the day...
Before the Great State of Emergency, there were laws against vagrancy (homeless) that were rigorously enforced.

Of course, that's politically incorrect under the glorious collectivist State.

The politicians aren’t on the side of the general public. It’s a shame they care so little about quality of life and safety .

LA's homeless crisis is starting to squeeze homeowners' wallets as they seek to find ways to protect themselves, and residents in Sherman Oaks are taking action against the issue.

"It's become a real problem," says Sherman Oaks resident Rick Marcelli, who claims to have spent thousands on improving his property in such a way as to make it more difficult for someone to break-in.

"From security gates to security screen doors to cameras to what have you," he says. "That runs up a considerable amount of money for each home owner."

"I don't understand how it seems, or it appears, that the homeless have more rights than we, taxpaying residents have," he says. "The police have their hands tied. You talk about suspicious bags and all of a sudden you have SWAT down here. The fact is these guys have suspicious bags everywhere. But if you touch their bags, you're touching their goods and by law they can't do that."

Marcelli says laws need to change before any attempt at fixing the homeless crisis will work.

Republicans are attacking California for having high crime rates, when California has lower crime rates than conservative states.

Shouldn't republicans be focusing on ways to lower crime rates in conservative states?

This is what Californians wanted. They voted the politicians in, voted for the ballot measures, that put policies in place that created this mess.

I am very confused by the link. Why isn't New Hampshire ranked #1, when it is ranked #1 in low violent crime rate and #3 in low property crime rate? And why is, for example, Wyoming ranked #9, when it is ranked #11 in low violent crime rate and #14 in low property crime rate? (Btw, California is #35 in low violent crime rate and #24 in low property crime rate.)

I did read the accompanying article and read the link to the methodology used, but I am still very unclear about it. If the authors had just averaged out the violent crime and property crime rates, the rankings would be very different.

Well aware of it. The leadership of LA has created this problem by catering to the homeless and allowing them to do whatever they chose. Sad for the working people living there.

#34 puts CA in the bottom (worst) third.
