It's obvious PETA wants this to go viral to push their "Go Vegan" agenda. They created an outlandish idea with the purpose of it going viral because it's so obsurd. And it worked...it's now viral.

Definitely agree (and I gave you a rep), but I think this might have the opposite effect from what they intended -- that PETA is full of "crazies", whether that is actually true or not.
PETA is, excuse the pun, going off the deep end where these Lobsters used to hang out.
This reminds me of a local story a few years back where 2 guys bought a giant lobster from a restaurant tank and released it back in to the water to set it free. The only problem was they should have done it from a boat and not a dock because Lobsters like cold deep water and throwing it into shallow warmer water killed it.
I can't believe that anyone still donates to PETA knowing that pennies on the dollar will go towards something stupid like this memorial.
They managed to get the circus to shut down and last month after years of trying they finally freed the animals from their cages on the front of boxes of animal crackers.
I love animals but come on PETA can't you spend your donations on something more important like saving living animals?
PETA put up a billboard urging Baltimore to stop eating crabs. It didn't exactly go over well.
The Baltimore Sun
PETA is coming after Baltimore’s beloved crab.
The animal rights group selected the local crustacean as the mascot for its latest pro-vegan campaign. A billboard in Baltimore pictures a crab with the words, “I’m me, not meat. See the individual. Go vegan."

So crabs have knowledge of their identity and individuality, huh? News to me!
