Well some PDs are evolving. This is a recent story where the cop was immediately fired after the allegation and has now been arrested.

There's something called intent.

If my hypothetical brother sells me a car that I don't know is stolen, them I haven't committed a crime. If he doesn't know it's stolen, he hasn't committed a crime, either.

And what do you mean government employees aren't going door to door shaking people down? Haven't you heard of property taxes?

I think it is safe to say that the total # of bad cop stories from every police department in all 50 states in 1 calendar year might exceed 1000. By "bad", I mean legit bad cases and not necessarily what the court of public opinion defines as being bad.

It was uncovered around here over the summer, detectives from local police depts were using seized drugs to get sex from women that were targets of investigations.
