These “anti gentrification “ idiots are really ridiculous

This group “Defend Boyle Heights “ is a racist anti white group that has harrassed “white” owned businesses like coffee shops and art galleries in the area .
This group is a socialist group too btw .

“Vida” was meant to be a TV show ripped from the headlines of L.A., portraying the battles over gentrification that have gripped Boyle Heights in recent years.
Aiming for a realistic look, the producers Thursday night set one scene on 1st Street in the predominantly Mexican American neighborhood, transforming a building into a rental listing office complete with graffiti decrying “Rental Crimes” and “Eviction Notice: Gentry get the ... out.”

But what was supposed to be dramatization about the effects of gentrification is now generating its own protests, with some activists accusing the show of being part of the problem.
The activist group Defend Boyle Heights sent a call-out — or “HOOD ALERT!!!”— for a demonstration during the filming, claiming the production was taking advantage of the neighborhood. The group slammed the show, saying that it “tastelessly exploits the anti-gentrification struggles of Boyle Heights” and that it stole images from activists.

On the activist group’s Facebook page, some people criticized targeting the TV show.
“It’s hard for me to sympathize with your cause when you resort to stalking and bullying behavior, intent on creating fear and intimidation,” one Instagram user wrote, referencing Defend Boyle Heights’ strategy of monitoring the film crew throughout the night. “There are many people, including Latinos, making an honest living on this show … As a Latino living in Boyle Heights, you don’t speak for me.”

A TV show chronicling gentrification in Boyle Heights is protested as an example of, well, gentrification

Very true

“The Boyle Heights masked men intent on keeping art galleries and other signs of gentrification out of the neighborhood are taking a page right out of the KKK playbook. They are protecting their neighborhood from different ethnic groups just as the hooded Klansmen protected their areas in the Deep South.”

“The funny thing about this display of ethnocentrism is that not long before the neighborhood became largely Latino, it was the home of thousands of Jewish settlers fleeing persecution in Europe and Asia.”
Something about the Boyle Heights anti-gentrification movement feels familiar

And a small “white owned “ business was vandalized again while the business was opened

According to multiple reports, Weird Wave’s large front window was left in pieces after an unknown assailant threw what appeared to be a glass bottle of kombucha through it at around 10 p.m. on Friday night. The coffee shop also operates as a dinnertime pizza restaurant and was actually open at the time, though in a post to social media ownership has said that no one was hurt.

jm1982 - all the usual LW loony tunes are afraid to say too much about this because it illustrates the insanity of their thinking (or what passes as "thinking" on the left).

Heres the funy thing.
You have two sides that don’t want development. The left who don’t want their neigborhood “sterilized” andpushing out the poor brown/blacks and the right who are essentially NIMBYS, who don’t want development because they wanna keep their neighborhoods the same and pretend it’s because thry care for the displaced poor but really they just don’t want “undesirables” living close or being able to use public transit through their areas because those undesirables are the poor they pretend to care so much about. Its really more about keeping prices high because “forget you young people, I gots mines!0

Then theres the group that want development which consists of a mixed bag. But both agree to combat rising housing costs is to chnage the very fabrick of the city because the way we’ve been doing it just doesnt work anymore.
