We currently have a huge prison labor workforce earning between 0 and 20 cents an hour with no benefits. They cant go on strike or they'll be sent to solitary confinement for months.

This massive workforce is expanding rapidly with the rise of for-profit prisons that donate to political candidates that give them more customers/prisoners.

Should the working class demand an end to this system and not support politicians that are funded by this industry?

Lets give the current plan a chance first.

When they let everyone out who says they are sorry. Lets see how that works first.

Try to do a higher level job than what a prisoner who likely dropped out by 7th grade can do.

A link would be helpful, but I am no in favor of a slave labor system, but to address prisoners working in a workforce, I am all for it.

These prisoners are already having the taxpayers foot the bill for their incarceration, society might as well be able to get some benefit out of it in the form of a labor force. There are still multitude of jobs that need to be performed; and those jobs are already dirty and disgusting and back breaking, and a prison workforce should be used. Prison's should be something to be feared. It would reduce the overall crimes, with harsher punishments.

Any job that one does with dignity and hard work should not be scoffed at. And clearly you didn't bother doing the research before posting such tripe…

I would favor having prisoners pick up trash along the road, personally.

But how can the working class compete against this "Bangladesh within America" of 10 cents an hour, no benefits and months of solitary confinement for workers if they go on strike?

This huge prison labor workforce is a direct threat to the working class of America.

But the for-profit prison industry earn higher profits when crime and incarceration is high and prison labor costs are low. How can the working class of America compete with 10 cents an hour and a ban on unions? Thats worse than even Bangladesh.

What do you mean no benefits? They get three squares a day, free medical and a roof over their head. They can also get free job training..... all at tax payer expense!
I say make them work to pay part of the cost to keep them incarcerated rather than paying them to work.
