Yes. Cindy McCain tweeted her support. Kyl is seat-holder so Gov. Ducey can run for seat.

Good. That seats been vacant for a year. One more solid R vote to keep things moving along and keep those Judges being confirmed.

That is surprising to see her support a conservative to replace the Dem that was in the seat claiming to be in the GOP.
The real victory for everyone is it won't be her in that seat.

What did anybody expect? did people think Ducey would have picked a outsider or someone fresh? nope he did the usual and kept the seat in the club with a retread {Kyle}. And the Gov made it possible so he can run for the seat in the future with out a incumbent holding it. So special

Politically speaking it was probably a smart move. It does make it possible for him to run for the seat in two years, but I think he was looking more at this year than two years from now. He is in a tight race for Governor and picking someone controversial would have created waves he likely couldn't afford politically

I posted last week in response to one of those silly posts about Cindy or Meghan McCain being appointed to the Senate ....... "my hope is that Jon Kyle is appointed". He was the most logical pick, if he was willing to do it. Apparently, the Governor called Mr Kyle within hours of McCain's death to ask him. After all, John McCain has been missing in action in the Senate for almost a year. Governor Ducey had to have his replacement in mind.

Jon Kyl, once one of the most powerful Republicans in the U.S. Senate, will return to Capitol Hill to succeed the late Sen. John McCain, The Arizona Republic has learned.

This is a win-win for Arizona.

1). Jon Kyle was elected by Arizonans for years - he has been vetted by the public and has their approval.

2). Kyle KNOWS how the Senate runs, he was the #2 guy when he retired in 2013. No learning curve for him, he can get back to work. Arizona has not had a Senator since President Trump was elected, they had 2 Men who were elected to the Senate who spent all their Time & Energy at WAR with the President. Kyle doesn't even know him - he will attend to business instead of Grandstanding and Campaigning.

3). This opens the Senate Field for everyone - Dem & GOP. No incumbent is a wonderful opportunity for anyone to step up on both sides.

4). Jon Kyle could be sworn in as early as this evening, but it's more likely to be tomorrow. The Governor is having an aid fly the appointment letter to Washington, D.C. today.

As for the McCain family response -- what else would anyone expect them to say but "I approve"
