If you had bothered to actually read the op ed, you'd see that it wasn't written by an "Obama holdover."
Plus, some Obama holdover would not be allowed a high position in the Trump administration.
Everyone is so concerned about the messenger. What concerns me is the message:
A) A group of higher ups in the Trump administration has decided to run the country on their own - that's called a coup.
B) Trump is completely incompetent to the point that he even doesn't remember his own paperwork and is incapable of formulating consistent policies other than tax breaks for himself and his billionaire pals and building his family fortune.

This is an endemic problem with this administration. An obsession with secrecy and manic behavior, then railing against the citizens who call them out on it as if they are actually the problem.
Leaks aren't the problem, malfeasance and incompetence are the problem, the leaks just tell the world about it. If the leaks were all good or flattering things no one would be upset, Trump would love it. We can not treat whistleblowers as being more wrong than the wrongs which they are revealing. This white house is out of control.
This is not national security at stake, this is Trump's vanity and public image at stake.
Todd Herman, filling for Rush today, talked about another NY Times op-ed a few years ago supposedly written by three energy experts and maybe one was in the Obama administration (I wasn't paying close attention). It was an anti-fracking piece. Long story short, it was later revealed that one intern, not three experts, wrote it.
So keep that in mind for this particular op-ed about Trump.
My intuition tells me it's a young, Obama holdover. I hope it turns out to be another nail in the credibility of the NYT's coffin.
