Trump has absolutely no power to compel the NYT to do anything. He's just spewing again. Criticizing the president is not a matter of national security or importance. The NYT is simply exercising its First Amendment rights.
You have to figure Trump is burning the midnight candle trying to figure some way to get back at the NYT. I am sure he is pulling senior staff away from what they should be working on to deal with it. But outside of Trump creating a constitutional crisis there is nothing he can do.
For those who didn't read it it, the writer of the Op Ed clearly states that Trump is unfit for office and a danger to our country and democracy... Should Trump be removed from office? This means forced to resign, impeached, etc.
Note for all the conservatives folks, this means Pence will take over so your conservative agendas can still move forward.
....Darn, can't add a poll now. Let's just hear everyone's thoughts on this then...
If an ivory billed woodpecker is seen riding a unicorn, should Trump be removed?
NO!
Despotic regimes always charged their opposition with derangement, as a reason to place them in mental institutions and negate their argument. This follows that rule book exactly. Communists used this tactic with great success. Putin must be coaching the democrats!
Obviously another "Trump derangement syndrome" anti-Trumper.
Dr. Gina Loudon, President Trump's Media Advisory Board member: President Trump is possibly "the most sound minded President to ever occupy the White House."

Pure Fiction. If the author had any "guts" he would come forward. Written by some no talent, for sure. Um, "anyone" can say a bunch of sensationalized garbage, spewing hateful vomit..... and it looks NYT is a failing paper trying to get more notoriety. Just More FAKE NEWS being pumped by a failing newspaper.
If the author came forward he would be gone, sounds like we need him to protect us from the mad man in the White House. The NY Times will at some publish the persons name, they wouldn't run a fictitious story like this without a real source.
There are very comparable revelations extant from Wolff, who was dismissed because he was not an insider, Manigault-Newman, who was dismissed as a disgruntled employee, Rex Tillerson (who really did call Trump a moron), and now Bob Woodward, who has a Pulitzer Prize, nineteen exquisitely researched books under his belt, and hundreds of hours of recordings of West Wing employees that he used to write the one on Trump. There are also daily reports of the chaos in the WH all over the media.
Other than that, not much. How do you know it's not...?
Absolutely. The very idea that someone in the White House would tell the truth! It's scandalous.
Oh, right, it's truth if it reflects negatively on the President. That is how we judge 'truth' today.
Dr. Gina Loudon, Trump's Media Advisory Board member, has said, "President Trump is quite possibly the most sound minded person to ever occupy the White House."

The arrogance expressed in the anonymous editorial is actually quite astounding. Trump as put by someone in the media "Is a grenade thrown at DC". Trump was elected President, the person writing that opinion piece should stand up and run for office instead of being cowardly. I think most people knew what they were getting electing Trump. He's doing the things he campaigned on and many of those things he's expressed going back decades. Who is this unelected person to criticize that?
The problem here isn't Trump, it's the disconnect of Washington insiders who think they know better from the general public.
The Mueller investigation will conclude soon and will blow over. Trump will win his trade war and the economy will be on steroids. The Democrats will put up a far left candidate in 2020 and Trump will easily win. He's going to be President for the next 6 years, deal with it

As of now, defamation "false statement of facts" is protected under the first amendment if targeted at public figures. So, although legal, I think it is important to keep this fact in mind. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_statements_of_fact
While the New York Times can get away with anything in this regards, right or wrong, it does and should lower their credibility. They know they can literally just make things up about a democratically elected president and then just go on about their daily business.
In my opinion, false statement of facts should also apply to the POTUS and other public figures. But, oh well...
Cheers
