That would put us back in the gold standard...ouch. Would be just a few bumps in our economy from that LOL. I couldn’t care less about the social justice, the minorities should have fought a revolution long before the 1950’s.
I would love to go back to the 50’s and change a few things. Vietnam would have never happened, Hollywood would have had much more strict rules to live with ect.
This includes all policies at the state, federal, and local level. If you could roll everything back to 1958, would you do so? What this means is you'd get things like prayer in school and abortion wouldn't be legal but there would also be Jim Crow laws in the South and environmental policy that would probably be too lax for even most of today's conservatives. You would have to take the good and the bad.
So if you could reset things to 1958, would you?
I hate that it's an all or nothing deal. On one hand, we were honestly a freer, less constrained society in 1958. On the other hand, I have been raised in a completely integrated society and have never once questioned it or thought "Man, I bet segregation was cool!" And as far as prayer in school goes, I can take it or leave it. A person's faith isn't going to be swayed if they miss their daily prayer session at school. They can pray before and after, and when they take their meal. I mean honestly, prayer is not banned in schools now. You can pray to your God for 8 hours straight while you sit in class if you want to. Why do people feel their prayers need to be heard by others? Are you seeking validation from your peers? Why? They are your prayers, so pray all you want, while respecting those around you who either do not wish to pray or are not beholden to your God. Anyway, you've really made this one hard by forcing us to take all or nothing bawac. So much about the ways of the past I love, yet so much about the ways of the past that I either don't understand or outright disagree with.
