I ask today what has happened to that feeling of Pride in ones country? We now have attacks from within by mask wearing thugs where one side is opposed to another and will physically attack the other in so called "peaceful protests" turned riots.
We have political attacks on our Police whom 17 years ago were heralded as heroes but are now accused of being a problem in race relations for doing their jobs.
We have kneeling football players.
We have politicians that are flaunting and disregarding common sense established laws to better improve their election chances.
We have politicians that are actively dividing us and harming America though they told us how important it was for our Democracy to have a peaceful transfer of power but of course that was when they thought their candidate was going to win.
We have people that desecrate and burn our Flag in their misguided petty protests.
Hollywood after 2001 turned out movies that had pride in America but today not so much and in the upcoming movie about the moon landings they purposely omitted the American flag.

What has happened to America since September 11th 2001 to have us so divided and at each other?

What happened to the Patriotic feelings that we are all in this together?

Will it take another tragedy to make us forget the petty squabbling and unite us again?
I'm as big a fan of people getting along as anyone, but the "Patriotic Fervor" thing isn't really necessary.

I saw people post 9/11 with two huge flags, muddy and tattered, flying out of the backs of their pickup truck beds. These guys weren't respecting the flag.

Guarantee you they're the same people furious at a football player taking a knee to protest the treatment of black people in this country. Because they think he's disrespecting THE FLAG. The one they flew until it was ragged and filthy.

That's some next-level hypocrisy right there.

Soo... as much as a like to see people united with a common goal, I do not think patriotism has much to do with it.

The post-9/11 patriotic fervor died when Republicans exploited it to gain support for an unnecessary, unpopular, and partisan war in Iraq.

And most Democrats were stupid enough to go along with it.

Well the predominating narrative at the time is if you didn't blindly support Bush and his entire agenda that you weren't a patriot and were in fact an enemy of the state. That line of thinking was so widespread at the time that many Democrats had no choice but to go along with it at first. Those who voted against the war initially were very courageous.

I find it very disturbing that Trump supporters have resurrected that same mindset when it comes to Trump and his agenda. Apparently if you don't support Trump and his theocratic fascist agenda blindly and fully, you hate America.

Yep, they were stupid enough to believe Cheney and Rumsfeld. They should have known better than to accept the so-called "intelligence" (talk about fake news!) those two warmongers fabricated.

Nothing happened. We’re the same nation pursuing the same dumb foreign policies that got us hit on 9/11 in the first place.

You should’ve only been shocked for a week or two TOPS.

Then reality should’ve set in when you gathered yourself AFTER you started rolling the timeline backwards to a dizzying plethora of events going back to 1953 in the Middle East. At that point, the only shock you should’ve felt is that a 9/11 hadn’t happened a few decades sooner.

Blowback is a real thing. Americans don’t think they should be susceptible to it, but we are. Meddling and bullying has consequences.

Americans need to find a better way to come together than to wait around for tragedies to do it. We don’t learn our lessons from tragedies anyway. In fact, 9/11 just made us double down on our stupidity.

Overgrown empires in decline fall apart. One aspect of that is territories are abandoned when disaster recovery becomes too expensive. The cultural differences between regions give some indication of the nations that will probably exist after the USA.

Lightbulb It's very evident what's happened.

What's happened is that a nationwide network of hate radio has been broadcasting the following message to a large gullible audience:

"America sucks and it's all your neighbors' fault!"

This same audience has elevated a traitor to the oval office, while they applaud his cozying up to Putin and turn themselves inside out in their pitiful attempts to defend his indefensible actions.
