The janitor has multiple problems: The chief observer became concerned for his personal safety after the janitor stated that he 'believed there was a serial killer in the area' and that the killer might enter the observatory and execute someone. At that point the agencies that operate the facility decided to shut it down out of an abundance of caution.

I kind of thought that from the hashtag, but even though I am plenty old enough to remember them, I never watched them. I just never got into Monty Python for some reason.
You don't shut a place like that down for days on end because of a computer that might have child porn on it.
It is incredible they (the United States government) really believe we are all mushrooms who flourish on the bull s*** they constantly feed us. I'm thinking in this case their logic is that if they use subject matter that is such a huge trigger (child porn), that everyone will focus on that and thus forget rationality.
They know the child porn explanation will be good enough for many people and they wont ask any questions.
Ive seen Law enforcement use 'suspicion of child porn' in order to gain access to a residence, their real goal was to find drugs and evidence of drug trafficking, 'child porn' is such an easy and convenient excuse for them to do whatever they want.
Besides that, there are certain criteria that determines whether officials give the public the real reason or withhold it altogether. It was extremely curious imo the FBI made a point to announce it was not alien or UFO related pretty early on...thats almost like saying "yes its alien/ UFO related! LOL
