Yes, and although I am a Trump supporter, I don't give the government much of the credit. Even though I believe his policies were unfriendly to private enterprise, I did fine under Obama as well.
My business caters to the wealthy and it boomed under Obama. They had money to spend on beautiful but unnecessary things.
I'd lean towards "no." My healthcare costs went up dramatically last year, a higher rate in one year than any increase I saw in the previous 10 years. My raises have been smaller (percentage-wise and dollar-wise). My investments are growing at about the same rate as they were over the previous 8 years. I've estimated that my paychecks have roughly $2400 extra over the course of the year, but my tax burden come tax-day is going to be about $2100 higher. So, an extra $300 in my pocket.
However, the new AC unit my house needs went from $5000 to around $6000 due to tariffs (parts made in China I guess?)
Nothing's been done to slow pharmaceutical costs either. So, the medication I get for one of my family members is costing about $2000 this year when it costs $1200 just two years ago.
So, mostly "no." I don't know if the current administration could do anything about drug prices, but I thought Trump was touting a better alternative and universal healthcare plan to replace the ACA. I'm no fool. I didn't expect Republicans to have a legitimate solution. But, they should be called to answer for their lack of a solution to the healthcare problem instead of simply being an impediment.
