If the beef is about protesting while on the clock, why did Trump and conservatives also object to players staying in the locker room or just eliminating the national anthem from the pregame?
The truth is that most of the people objecting to the protests want to force the players to act a certain way on the field while the cameras are running. Trump and his cult want their few minutes of perfect political theater without any uppity black men putting Dear Leader in a bad mood or ruining their jingoistic lovefest.
Quit playing the anthem before the game and the problem is instantly solved. The attempt to force people to display an appropriate level of patriotic enthusiasm is a massive failure and violates all the principles this country was founded on. Forcing athletes to stand at attention and salute the flag is something we have all seen before, just in places like North Korea or the Soviet Union, never before has it been suggested that Americans should be punished or have their careers destroyed because they pissed off Dear Leader and his cult like followers by failing to participate in the correct manner in a display of ritualistic jingoism.
I - a Democrat - object to players staying in the locker room or eliminating the national anthem - it's because of this country, our servicemen, our history and our ideals that those players can even command the amt of money they get for playing.
One of my patients was one of the Buffalo Bills - way before they got paid millions to play - way before all the safety regulations. After football - he didn't go and open up a franchise or sell him self out as a spokesperson - because things like that weren't done. He ended up working at Chevy on the line.
It's not about Trump and it's not about race - it's about the lack of ethics and morals this country is facing due to all the PS BS. To ask that someone respect the country where they became a millionaire and had all these opportunities isn't much.
If the owners were smart - they'd hire replacements. Guys who just want to play for the love of the game. I'm sure they'd be grateful for the opportunity and you know - the game would probably be more enjoyable.
You don't want to force a minority ( and that encompasses whites and blacks ) of people to stand for the anthem - but you'll take away the right of the majority to proudly stand and support our nation. That is how wacko your side has become.
Your workplace plays the national anthem at the beginning of your work day? If you simply sat through it or took a knee you'd expect to be fired? In the land of the Free and home of the Brave, your constitutional freedoms are only worth bupkus?
In any of the other first world countries out there, I would opine that were there ever an event that required the playing of the country's national anthem at their place of work and some employee, even governmental or military, decided to occasion a bent knee.....there'd be no punitive measures taken as Freedom of Expression supercedes the simple-minded interpretations of the words Freedom and Patriotism.
You all talk nonsense - I know no one that thinks kneeling is appropriate - it's been talked about enough these last 2 yrs - and polls - Hillary was suppose to be president according to a poll - remember that one - they are all fake.
I have nothing against Nike but they have to think about their future, yes its very hip to be pro Nike and pro colin but where will these supporters be in a few years??If I know the youth, theyll get bored and move on to something else.

National anthem is irrelevant. Sitting or standing is irrelevant. Protesting at work is the core issue. I don't have the freedom to say whatever I want at work. I can't dress however I want at work. I can't bring guns to work. Why be so dense and pedantic about it?
It's also very common to play the national anthem before or after sporting events. Not sure what the point of focusing on that is, not relevant.
Not a right winger bud - if you've read the discussion boards - I'm a Democrat and I still think the act of kneeling is wrong - do it on their own time and dime.
I'm an old time Democrat where you respected your country and the people who made it great. We had different ideas back then of equality, social programs ect. - but they never extended to what the liberal Democrats want to do today - Kennedy must be rolling in his grave.
2/3rds of Americans don't know wtf they're talking about. I would encourage them to take the Nike Challenge I posted near the beginning of this thread. Protest at work and see what happens.
Vast generalizations do not make for good arguments. Many people can protest.
Poor kids in those Chinese sweat shops, forced to increase their output under penalty of torture no doubt due to your happy protest. Disgusting that you are cheering for it
What are you blabbing about? Nike factories in china pay welll relative to Chinese factories and the jobs there for people from the countryside are lucrative. Sure in American standards the pay is low but you need to remember that col is also lower. And......nike has no plans to bring these jobs back to the us despite the trump tax....er tariff.
