This is an absurd statement. The culture in Phoenix does not even resemble the culture in Des Moines and neither are like the culture of Brighton Beach. There are hundreds of separate and distinct cultures in the US.
They aren't cultures they are subtle regional differences. They still represent American's identifying culture and they all speak English as their primary language. Not so, with most Hispanics.
"Our country" was also used when those Irish came over, then the Catholics, then the Italians, then the Germans, then the (insert ethnic group that was feared to take over from the more established populations).
It was suggested that OldGlory take a ride on a NYC subway to blow up the notion that a.) there's a singular US culture and b.) Spanish is the only language you hear.
I'm sure that is far, far too frightening for her though.
You hold no high ground in this thread.
Scroll back to post #397. You LOL'd at the fact that the Spanish-speaking staff in an open kitchen were calling the cashier a w***** in Spanish, not once but three times. Then you said that people have to get used to the idea of hearing Spanish in the BOH---even in open kitchens.
So...you found it okay that these workers did that, even found it amusing

They came here legally with permission of our government. We had no welfare state back then. In contrast far too many Hispanics are coming here illegally without permission and they are costing us over $100 billion a year.
The Germans, Italians, etc. joined the melting pot and learned and spoke English for the most part. In contrast many Hispanics are not. Those other groups were also diversified in culture and language so they assimilated rather than colonizing as many Hispanics are.

Also, that poster has it wrong. I'm not a she but a he. They apparently don't know the difference between a singular "identifying" culture and minority cultures living among us.
Guess it's fitting since a certain native culture was decimated to establish your ideal American culture.
Hey genius the ancestors of Hispanics did the same thing but only much worse. So I guess it's fitting for someone to tear down latin American culture.
