At any rate, the money these days is on Republicans. Obama spent almost twice as much as McCain - 778M to 383M; Obama outspent Romney, too, by 2 to 1.
Generally, the money flow is not as lopsided as I would have thought. Like you, I would have assumed that the money always favored the GOP. But it doesn't. 2010 and 2014, when the Democrats "took a shellacking" the money spent was about even.

The RNC used some of that money for inside surveys - like the one that just showed Pelosi is more popular than Trump. Wise use of the $$$....
Hey, no one ever denied the GOP was the party of paid-off politics, corruption, fossil fuel billionaires, etc. - I don't see how that is something to be proud of, but whatever.
