[quote=Irishtom29;53197672]Cruz is a ninny who sucks up to a guy who grossly insulted his family. I’d think a real Texan would despise and resist a person who did that, not abjectly crawl to him. And despise a person who crawls.[/QUOTE

Are you seriously trying to compare a career politician (and this includes any damn one of them no matter their affiliation) to a normal aka 'real' Texan, 'real' Okie, 'real' ____(you fill in the blank)? I find this hilarious.

Newsflash: ALL career politicians lie, suck up/crawl, do whatever it takes to be in their public positions albeit sometimes it's more apparent or publicly exposed, but don't kid yourself, they all answer, crawl, yes man to someone or group. Why? Why, there's gold in them thar hills and they want to fill their pockets with as much of it as they can while they can.

I'll let you in on a little secret. They don't even believe what they say to you because they know they are lying and I'm sure they are amazed at how gullible the public can be, but hey, all the better for them.

The best thing (IMO) is to try and put the one in office that is going to hurt you the least. Look at their voting records and you can easily figure that one out. When you see they voted for something that you and everyone you know and every article you read is against, think about it and remember about that thar gold in those hills. When they vote to collect more taxes on this and that and you get nothing out of it except a decrease in your pocket book, remember to rub your fingers together and think about the one doing this to you. You suddenly got more restrictions placed on you, less freedom and you wonder WTH is going on? Well, simple, somebody's pockets got a little heavier.

You don't want to vote for the creepy, crawly guy/gal? Lots of luck with finding anyone to vote for. You fall for the glib, golden tongued, going to make you feel good speech guy? Fine, just don't act surprised at what follows if you didn't bother to check into this fine talking person's background of voting and who it benefited (besides himself of course) ~ check out the special interest groups and how it affected poor old Joe taxpayer Sometimes you just have to hold your nose and vote for the lessor of two evils.

In the case of Cruz and O'Rourke you have 2 creepy, crawly guys (oh yes you do even if on a quick look you don't think so, just check it out). Which one will do the least amount of damage to Texas and Texans (talking about you and me here) overall? I've done my homework, lots of reading, listening and more reading and IMHO Beto is a much worse snake in the grass. Matter of fact, I would say electing him senator of Texas would be one of the worst things that could happen to our state and I would say this even if I were a dyed in the wool Democrat. Sometimes you just got to look out for yourself, you know what I mean?

It’s my observation that when others demand freedom those who already have it think their freedom is threatened. Actually they fear their power is threatened.

I already know what Cruz is about. He hasn't helped the state one iota since elected and if anything has hurt it. I have people telling me "I can't believe you have a senator that bent over and took it from the president."

I guess I'd want someone like John McCain, a maverick that kisses nobody's trousers but instead is a man that does whatever he believes is right.

Since I already know what Ted Cruz is made of (or not made of, no spine), I'm willing to give a shot to the other guy. Cruz had his chance, he had his time. So O'Rourke for me.

Too bad you conservatives can’t opt out of liberal stuff like social security, FDIC, overtime pay after 40 hours, OSHA, workman’s comp, unemployment benefits, rural electrification, the right to form labor unions, desegregation, voting rights and such, eh?

Socialism is a bad word to conservatives, but the truth is, when it comes to socialism the USA is swimming in it. People focus on things like social security, unemployment, medicare, roads, and schools. But there is another side of socialism that conservatives will never acknowledge that is rampant in America. Our socialism manifests itself mainly in the form of corporate tax cuts and benefits for military contractors. Notice I didnt say military benefits, because the reality is that when we dump x amount of dollars into the military a disproportionate amount ends up in the hands of companies like Lockheed and Northrup Grumman. Those companies donate heavy to conservative candidates and they can easily disguise it as being "for the troops" when in fact it has nothing to do with them.

So in Europe, socialism gets you things like childcare, maternity leave, and health care.

Our socialism allows big companies to pay no taxes and makes military contractors richer.

SS is wreck, almost bankrupt. The SS Ponzi scheme will collaspe on our children.
FDIC is not "liberal".
OT pay is not "liberal".
Workmans comp is wreck.
"Unemployment benefits" is grossly abused since Obama invited free loaders to exploit it.
"rural electrification" is not liberal. Energy companies are usually conservative
Labor Unions are so corrupt its pathetic. Remember Jimmy Hoffa? Mobs, etc.
Desegration? Who? Where? Anyone can live anywhere.
Voting rights? I guess you want illegals to vote. The Dems sure do.

Face it, Cruz ruined himself when Trump attacked him in the primary and he didn't stand up to him. In fact, he bowed down to him.

We need a powerful leader, not one that bows down and worships the head of their party.

But... I would take it back if Cruz stands on national TV and attacks President Trump and accuses him of all he did wrong.

But... We know this will never happen ... so O'Rourke.

I'm surprised that the mods are letting this CA and political thread remain here.

Look, you are simply a Liberal. Trump is not, so you want anyone to STAND UP to him. It is as simple as that, don't give us a claim that you would consider voting for anyone other than a strong Liberal or Socialist. You would have supported McCain, because in his latter years in office, especially, he turned more Liberal.
