The massive tax cuts for business and the wealthy from the right are just as much of the problem as the massive spending proposals from the left. Both parties are going to have to come together and realize that if the budget is to be balanced spending will have to go DOWN and taxes will have to go UP. Neither side will get all they want.
I personally would rather see badly needed infrastructure spending that creates good paying jobs then more tax cuts for the rich who frankly, are the only demographic that are doing extremely well in this country.

Exactly right. Our infrastructure is falling apart. How is that not something that should be of higher priority than giving the already obscenely wealthy even bigger tax cuts?
Lots of liberal groups also want all student debt to be eliminated also.
Nice spin job.
The issue is the unreasonable tax breaks, following the 'starve the beast' formula. First cut taxes, then argue against spending on needed projects.
We do need infrastructure overhauls, even Trump has said so during the campaign. The people need decent housing and affordable health care. Why wasn't any of that considered before those ridiculous tax breaks for the rich and over-privileged was pushed? This is poor stewardship, plain and simple.
Our national infrastructure is crumbling around us. Now they want to push a quick additional tax break for the rich. 'Trickle down' economics is voodoo economics. I say no more of that!
Here is an idea for the Dems to chew on. Illegal aliens cost America BILLIONS of dollars per year. California alone pays out $23 BILLION to keep their illegal aliens happy.
Why not deport the illegal aliens and just imagine how those many BILLIONS could be spent to better the lives of millions of Americans?

I agree. Is it not idealogical enough for anyone? No dog whistles?
Why, why, why are we not doing it? Obama wanted to do infrastructure. Congress blocked it, because they didn't want Obama to get credit for doing anything that actually needs to be done.
Now we've got military spending soaring (why?), the never-happening wall, and trade wars.
Why won't anyone do infrastructure? Does it make too much sense?
One of these days a bridge is going to collapse, or some other disaster and then we'll talk about it again.

The need for improved infrastructure was one thing Trump talked about during his campaign that I actually would have supported, had I believed him. Unfortunately, the only building he is interested in doing is that damned wall.
Oh, wait. There was that wonderful healthcare plan, too. You know, the one that would cover everybody? I didn't believe him about that, either.
