Why is this in the Political Forum? Airplanes crash. So do cars, boats, wagons, scooters, bicycles...…...

taxpayers plane. government took taxpayer cash to build that plane.

As spare parts had to be pirated from museums and other military planes have been crashing, training had been cut back, maintenance questionable due to cut backs.

You taking issue, constitutes a controversy.

Yeah, the F-35B (the type that crashed in SC) was first introduced on July 31, 2015. The entire F-35 program has been plagued with problems from the start.

Let's not start with the Joint strike fighter f 35. The fighter jet cost 1 trillion US dollars to develop.

Maybe due to the price of a plane and the media showing crashes through the development of a program that test pilots no longer push an aircraft to failure like during the Chuck Yeager The Right Stuff era. So a "first crash" in the fleet makes the news more than just another training accident.

Funny that it happened a few days after the first combat mission by an American F-35 was flown by the USMC.

Britain currently has 138 F-35B's STOVL on order and has receved the first batch.

The USAF will also be operating F-35A's from Lakenheath in England which are to replace the current F-15's.

Glad the piot ejected safely.

Lets hope there are no more crashes and they don't start falling out of they sky on mass.

Here's the USAF putting some F-35A's through their paces at the Mach Loop in Wales, which is a good place to camp out with plenty of supplies, a camera and plebty of beers.

The engineering that went into designing the F-35 is truly amazing and they're still trying to re-engineer the thing even after they have already started producing them. I feel the big issue with the F-35, was trying to make it into the "Swiss Army knife of jet fighters", they tried to cram so much into the plane and have it do so many crazy/amazing things, it just made it hard to pull it all off.

It's "stealthy".
