Is a example of closing a port to a us naval ship. The other ones have been talked about enough that it may be considered common knowledge I would think.
The link is dated 27 Sept. 2018. Thanks I hadn't seen it before or anything on the others either.

Wasn't it SOD Mattis going to China, canceled by Trump, or is that not correct ?

China harassing our ships is not an effort to avoid them. Not the way I see it, anyway.

Aside from your snarky comment there are reports both ways that it was China that canceled the meeting with Mattis and the other way around too.
If you were really keeping up why would you not recognize that ?

One thing we see play out daily is the left is never after the truth. Only power. Deception and lies are fair tactics to them.

Well, whatever Trump is doing is working well. Our Trade Deficit with China is at record highs and new polls taken today show the world trusts Xi more than Don.

MAGA. We're getting the full package. More debt, more deficit, more trade deficit, worse health care, more coming over the southern border.....

I'm so tired of winning. Please...can we lose a little? I have "forgotten men and women" driving Bentleys all around here....

Yup, while China lowers its tariffs with the rest of the world, the war with America continues. Trump is taking a pretty hard line with them. I have a hard time seeing it working as he expects because of China history, but we shall see. China HAS taken advantage of the US in trade, Trump is 100% right on that. I just dont see these actions as the sort that will resolve this.
I mostly agree with you. I think the Chinese are willing to take a huge hit to their economy and wait until Trump is gone....if Trump wins in 2020, they might be willing to negotiate. The Chinese stock market has gone down 30% since Trump started tariffs and it's going to continue falling until they negotiate with Trump or he's no longer President.

Would you rather be bullied and punked by China for the rest of your life? If you prefer to cower vs standing proud, America is simply not for you.

We've been through this before but most Chinese don't own stock....so this is a moot point.

Any way you look at it. the Chinese person-on-the-street is VASTLY better off than before and getting better and better.

Also, unlike Americans, they are smart. They know some things take time. They didn't ask for a fight, but they would be glad to finish it once we start it. The end game is quite simple. China will end up being a great trading partner for the other 5+ billion people in the world....including their own consumers. The USA will, at some point, BEG them to let bygones be bygones and normalize trade again. That will be the point - which we already are most of the way to - where China becomes the world leader.

We will then go crying back to Germany and Europe...and they will say "sure, maybe we will trade with you but what about all those nasty names you called us?".......

Then we will beg Mexico to help us more...and they will say "But we are criminals and rapists! Surely you don't want to do more business with us".......

To say Trump is a fool is not accurate. He's much worse.

So you didn't approve of Nixon and Mao meeting?

Your house isn't filled with stuff made in China? You don't show on eBay, Walmart or Amazon or Target or anything of the sort??

Are you boycotting?

Silly ideals. Standing Proud? Where? I love the Chinese. They are smart, industrious, innovative and family orientated. They work hard and get ahead.

Do you have a problem with that? I love the Germans and the Danish also.

Here - make sure you don't use these brands in addition to all the others:

This is capitalism as WE have defined it. Stock corporations....multi-nationals. ANYONE can buy them. Well, most anyone.

Is there something about American style capitalism you don't love? You dislike Free Markets that Republicans have hung their hat on for years? Free Trade? Are you a socialist?

Other countries already own many of our utilities, roads and bridges, health care outfits and much much more. It goes without saying that they own car companies and the factories here that produce their brands....

One would have thought you'd consider this decades ago. The horse not only left the barn, but he turned into a Honda.

Cutting deficits with China means raising deficits somewhere else. America does not manufacturer all things in a sudden.
Nowadays Chinese products are well cost-effective, no matter what the stereotype is.

US will still record huge trade deficit. But there is a difference in generating huge trade deficit with countries like Vietnam or Korea than with China.

Time has changed. China evolved from a strategic partner in the early '80s to a strategic competitor as of nowadays. So should US still provide $500 billion trade surplus year after year to China which may be later used to haunt US?

The tariff sends a signal to all the foreign-owned firms in China which aim to export to US that they should move out of the country and diversify somewhere else.
