This is an interesting article. No wonder most of the world doesn't trust him. He rode the coattails of his father and has dodge taxes since he was an adult. Many people have doubted Trump's stories of how he became successful, with good reason. The findings are credible.
The Trumps’ tax maneuvers show a pattern of deception, tax experts say
The findings are based on interviews with Fred Trump’s former employees and advisers and more than 100,000 pages of documents describing the inner workings and immense profitability of his empire. They include documents culled from public sources — mortgages and deeds, probate records, financial disclosure reports, regulatory records and civil court files.
The investigation also draws on tens of thousands of pages of confidential records — bank statements, financial audits, accounting ledgers, cash disbursement reports, invoices and canceled checks. Most notably, the documents include more than 200 tax returns from Fred Trump, his companies and various Trump partnerships and trusts. While the records do not include the president’s personal tax returns and reveal little about his recent business dealings at home and abroad, dozens of corporate, partnership and trust tax returns offer the first public accounting of the income he received for decades from various family enterprises.
In Mr. Trump’s version of how he got rich, he was the master dealmaker who broke free of his father’s “tiny” outer-borough operation and parlayed a single $1 million loan from his father (“I had to pay him back with interest!”) into a $10 billion empire that would slap the Trump name on hotels, high-rises, casinos, airlines and golf courses the world over. In Mr. Trump’s version, it was always his guts and gumption that overcame setbacks. Fred Trump was simply a cheerleader.
Certainly a handful of journalists and biographers, notably Wayne Barrett, Gwenda Blair, David Cay Johnston and Timothy L. O’Brien, have challenged this story, especially the claim of being worth $10 billion. They described how Mr. Trump piggybacked off his father’s banking connections to gain a foothold in Manhattan real estate. They poked holes in his go-to talking point about the $1 million loan, citing evidence that he actually got $14 million. They told how Fred Trump once helped his son make a bond payment on an Atlantic City casino by buying $3.5 million in casino chips.
Even if it was 14 million, 99 percent of the population under similar circumstances would lose/spend the 14 million or never grow it much pass that.
I know a dozen or so people that have inherited substantial sums from inheritances and even the Powerball --- all of them now have much less than they originally had.
In the case of the Powerball winnings, the husband and wife tandem won 740k after taxes, and with the exception of paying 190k csh for a house, the rest of that money was completely gone in less than 14 months.
You're trying to make it sound like just about any schmo off the street could turn 14 million into over a billion --- and that's so far from the truth it isn't even funny.
Seems you do not know the difference between income and wealth.
but I bet he knows the difference between being a cheat and being honest...
Trump could not do work at 3--how could be possible actually EARN that money.
It was a deceit practiced by his father to benefit his children...illegally...
Trump was a millionaire with money passed to him fraudulently by his father by 8...
Read this small sample of one con that Trump's father set up to benefit Trump and his siblings---
And Trump's sister is a Federal judge--one of her filings for her judgeship gave the NYTimes a big lead into the unraveling of this criminal conspiracy...

It is the same kind of deflection and lie that Trump is comfortable telling...
I've gotten through about half the article so far.
My already low opinion of Donald Trump sunk lower, but to be honest, my opinion of his father went up. He was the real go-getter of the family.
Even though he was a Nazi sympathizer he did have a brilliant brain for business---
His son obviously not much---but show business and being a crook--he has that down pat...
Tax returns do not show wealth, does not even show a path to wealth, it is merely a snap shot.
Actually with Trump's tax returns, they could be the Sistine Chapel...of creative/illegal tax shelters and write offs....
The part I liked in the short piece I just read is that a BIG CLUE into this was done came from reading Trump's sister--the judge's--declaration for her confirmation as judge...
She entered one of the shell companies started by Fred that make masses of illegal gift contributions to his children--
It was a new company and they investigated how it worked
Talked to man who owned a machinery company that made/sold commercial boilers who did business with Fred Trump and Robert--
And found two invoices that tied everything together...
I love how his sister who is a Federal judge is going to be implicated and is just as guilty because of the illegal stream of money -- although not as rich as Donald...
Let's say I take your argument... Trump is not a success, his dad is the genius. Whatever the case may be, D Trump has wealth many times over that he has maintained.
Nancy Pelosi has increased her net worth 30 times over since she has been in government and is now a multi-millionaire thanks to her connections and influence.
Which is worse? Trump bring in his own wealth and not needing to be influenced by anyone... or people who pretend to serve but are really enriching themselves and doing the bidding of unknown parties?
Are you miffed at Pelosi increase in wealth at all? Because that bothers me more... from both parties.
You can't ignore the facts--
And the facts researched and pretty well nailed down show an illegal transfer of wealth from Fred Trump to his children w/o proper taxes being paid...
Don't try to palm off Trump's guilt to Pelosi
If you want to talk graft from being in office then look at Tom Price, Trump's first head of HHS--
He is being investigated for insider trading just like the Congressman who was indicted couple of weeks ago
And the GOP Congressman in CA who has been ripping off his campaign fund to enrich himself and his wife...
And HIS STAFF KNEW HE WAS DOING IT--the local GOP organization tried to stop him--they couldn't
And he lied out his teeth and claimed it was all his wife and he knew nothing about it--
While using the campaign credit card to pay for hotel rooms to have sex with his girlfriends...
This thread is about Trump's history of illegal income from tax evasion...
Not Pelosi
Please--don't even go there
If you can't manage a decent defense, just go to bed...
What facts or evidence do you are anyone else have that "Trump lied". Again, what has he lied about? The Left loves to accuse, but never any facts, nor evidence. Maybe you should just go to bed? What have you posted that just isn't more TDS BS?
