No where in the article or proposed law does it call for the confiscation of anything.
It says bump stocks (will be) illegal to possess. There is no grandfathering for current owners so the choices are: turn them in, destroy them or keep them and risk a felony.
How is this not confiscation (government authority forcibly depriving a person of private property with no compensation)?
1. Nobody cares about bump stocks. They're an ammo wasting novelty and not really necessary anyways.....a rubber band will do the same thing with a little practice.
Giving up bump stocks is a nothing burger designed to placate the Left.
2. If Trump decided to make any serious attacks on the 2nd amendment, his popularity among his base would drop faster than a fat kid on a Seesaw.
Nobody cares about bump stocks, true...but we sure as hell care about our semi-auto rifles and we all know you don't need a novelty accessory to bump fire them. Thanks to Trump, a longstanding and clearly established legal line is about to be erased and left open for future interpretation... and that open interpretation is NOT in our favor.
Not one inch! This inch given will cost gun owners dearly in the future.
Trump could care less about the 2nd Amendment until it comes to votes.
Trump could care less about most of the rock solid foundations of the Republican party.
He obviously is not about conservative fiscal policies EXCEPT for tax breaks for corporations. He is not fiscally conservative.
Trump is in this for Trump. He wants the stage, the accolades, the 'ratings'. He doesn't care what he has to do to get it.
Look at him at the rallies -- they aren't for promoting anybody but himself.
But none of that matters -- as long as he's playing the Republican game -- conservatives/Republicans are happy.
Bump stocks and machine guns are only a small subset of gun owners.....I personally can't see the fun in ripping off a couple hundred bucks worth of ammo on an old car body......but we're all different and if you want to go for it. As for Trump I seem to recall he claimed to have a CCW and is pro NRA, good enough for me.

It is just a novelty item. I have been shooting for almost fifty years, and have belonged to multiple gun clubs, and I have NEVER even seen one.
