The phones don't go off simultaneously. My husband each have phones but with different service providers. His phone goes off a few minutes before mine does.
Which would make quite the cacophony! My son just came in from school. He said it was very disruptive.
To be fair, Trump hasn't exactly proven judicious with his use of Twitter, so perhaps the concern is warranted. I'm generally in favor of a national alert system utilizing cell phones, but I want it to be used appropriately.
A generic alert system would be fine. But the ego-in-chief branding them?
No thanks--the guy is already in our faces day and night. And, frankly, I don't trust his judgment at all. I would prefer that someone or some agency that is respected with sound judgment send out the alerts. This just feels like another presidential tweet, which I've blocked. Just cannot take that guy seriously.
Nope. This was set up under Obama...... you should have protested it then.
I'm not really protesting it now. I knew there were going to be a bunch of people that did not understand how it really works, or for that matter, when it started.
Fast way (I hoped) to let posters know that it's not Trump sending these out. Get their attention then let level heads explain.
I am not certain I was successful. Honestly I'm not certain it's possible to convince some about how it works.
I am not a lover of Trump by any means, but this program is no different than Amber alerts, or the ones I get from the police department. The scale is the factor here. Not the messaging system.

An agency did - FEMA. This has nothing to do with Trump force-feeding you with bizarre tweets.
I can’t believe so many people are confused about this. It’s not as if there weren’t prior announcements about what it is.
We had our regular scheduled tornado siren tests at 12pm and 1pm. Then, an hour or two later, this FEMA test, lmao. I do hope our millions of transplants and illegal aliens didn't get to freaked out. On the other hand, maybe they will all go home.
