i applaud fonda for remaining so active and involved at her age! You might not agree with her, but at least she is trying to do something about what she dislikes, instead of just whining or yelling about it (like most of us do here on c-d).
This is like the late 60s would have been if George Wallace would have won the 1968 election. Nixon, as corrupt as he was, was a right-leaning moderate. Wallace was the "alt-right" candidate of the '60s that wanted to preserve Jim Crow and segregation. I think right now the country is being run by a bunch of reactionaries who cannot handle living in the 21st century and will do anything they possibly can, no matter how heinous, to force the clock back to 1956 when it comes to civil rights, while simultaneously shoving fundamentalist Christianity down everyone's throats. That's where we are right now in America.
Is this as bad or worse than the 60s? Tough to really say until this era is looked back on in hindsight. We are on a fast track to becoming a fundamentalist Christian version of Iran that's also white supremacist in my opinion.
