Recently, Crypto Investors have been relocating to Puerto Rico to avoid capital gains taxes on their profits. They're getting into shouting matches with the locals who don't like their plans.

Say what? Listen to them saying, "You Americans". I thought Puerto Ricans were supposed to be Americans.

So when there's too many Gringos moving to Puerto Rico meddling around in their affairs, all the sudden they become a different country and American investors are treated like foreign invaders.

This is reason #15,238 why Puerto Rico is not compatible with the United States and should never become a state. They have the rights of citizenship out of convenience, but they don't actually see themselves as Americans and don't consider mainlanders to be their countrymen.

Well, there are people who don't think Californians are Americans, so why not?

There are also people who don't think liberal Americans are Americans, and there are people who don't think non-White people are Americans. What goes around, comes around.

That's unrelated.

Puerto Ricans don't think that they are Americans, and are treating investors from the mainland like foreigners. That's why they need to be independent.

Now you know why PR does not want statehood.

It's gotta be all or nothing. You're either American or your not. They can't play it both ways.

If they don't want statehood, if they don't like mainland investors, they need to be independent.

What? No it's not. Don't flatter PR....a rare Puerto Rican is even black. 80% of them are Spanish PWT.

And all of that is besides the topic of discussion anyway. The point is that they are not Americans.

Do you know that ALL Puerto Ricans feel that way? Or even a majority? Just because you've got a video where a few Puerto Ricans say that, does not mean the entire population of Puerto Ricans thinks that way.

Its moot. All 3 million Puerto Ricans could move to the mainland tomorrow if they wanted. You don't even need a passport.

BTW I have spent a lot of time there, and the middle and upper class Puerto Ricans are basically white Europeans. They're pretty much like the ruling class in much of Latin America. Like Mexico.

The poor poor people living in the slums are usually a bit more mixed. Unlike Mexico though, Puerto Rico doesn't have such an ingrained caste system, and they have free university education - so if you're poor in PR and don't want to be - there are options. You can get educated, and have a good middle class life in PR - the government is the largest employer -, or move to the US and be a welfare recipient and complain about how unfair capitalism is.
