I'm really surprised that the Washington Post actually had an article that spoke in detail as to what happened when protesters harassed Cruz and his wife.
If I happened to see someone dining at a restaurant while I was there and that person was a politician that I didn't like, I would leave him/her alone. They are there to have a meal and expect to do so without being harassed. Besides, do these protesters really expect that they will get a politician to change his/her mind by screaming at them? If anything, it probably has the opposite effect.
But I'm wondering now... What if someone politely said, "Excuse me for disturbing you, Senator, but I hope that you'll take some time to re-consider your position on Kavanaugh, considering that apart from the sexual allegations, there are serious issues about his obvious bias, his finances, and his lack of self-control." And then left him alone after that.

I don't think any politician should be asked any questions while they are dining with their spouse. It's just plain rude. Cruz is aware of those sexual allegations, etc. and some stranger coming up to him thinking they can change his mind while he's trying to enjoy a meal is ridiculous and inconsiderate.

I agree -- Call his office, send an e-mail....even reference how you saw them at the restaurant and didn't want to disturb them BUT.....
But at some point we have to let them be off the clock.
Read the article. A restaurant employee alerted the group Cruz had a reservation. People were in the bar before Mr. and mrs Cruz showed up. And more came when they entered.

Yup. And the owners, Fabio and Maria Trabocchi, hired an investigator to figure out which employee that was. This was a planned harassment of the Cruzes.

I would think if it meant that much to the person they would make an actual effort and contact the candidate at another time. Otherwise that person is just a lazy opportunist.
doesnt matter that they were able to enjoy the meal, the lefties got in their faces in the restaurant. have we no civility left in this country? there is a time and place for everything, and sorry but its not in a restaurant before, during, or after a meal. those "protesters" should have been arrested and trespassed off the restaurant property permanently.
understand that it isnt just cruz and his wife that these idiots were disturbing, but the rest of the restaurant patrons as well.
I must agree. I’m a Texan who despises Ted Cruz’s politics but, this idea that folks should harass politicians when they are dining or, in other public places when they are spending time with their family takes lack of civility to a new low. We are a divided country and, I understand people’s anger and frustration but, these politicians, no matter how badly they may behave, are still people. We should all respect their private lives with their families.
