The verdict was a disappointment on many levels, not the least of which is every officer from this point forward will be judged (and convicted) on a shot-by-shot basis.
So again, it's not just Van Dyke who is the problem.
The arrogance of tyranny knows no bounds. It hasn't hit them yet that they can't do as they please and get away with it.

Based on their comments, it's never going to hit them. They feel they've been wronged, they're not going to respond anymore to their calls, they won't fire their weapon for fear of being imprisoned blah blah blah. It's insane the way they've processed this. It really is a gang mentality.

The police should be given leeway in uncontrollable conditions to protect themselves and the pubic.

I am content with this verdict, but a cop not afraid in the war zone of Chicago would be insane.

I agree.
The incident involving Laquan McDonald was not an uncontrollable condition and nobody there needed protecting - other than McDonald himself - so this case doesn't fit your scenario.

Except I didn't post that they stated they were afraid to police in certain areas. They said they'd be afraid to fire their gun for fear of going to prison.
That's a ridiculous overreaction since that's not why Van Dyke is going to prison.

On that point, I agree. Now had I seen the deceased moving towards Van Dyke, I'd have no issue with a lethal use of force. I saw no such movement.
A taser IMO would have worked well in this instance.
You mean besides the fact that he was high on pcp, had a kife, and was slashing and stabbing everything in sight up to that point? I suppose you think he would have just pet the police dog on the head?
why should anyone believe any of this since the police in this case have been proven to be liars?
