I think the point was religion is a mental disease.
There is a difference between spirituality and group think religion which Islam and Christianity Share.
I grew up in the bible belt where the majority were Christians and even then, it was not uncommon for differing sects to bash each other over the head with the bible. Anyone outside of that were infidels.
While I agree this is terrible and if the Pakistani Supreme Court and the allies of Pakistan had any sense of morality they would put this women in a witness protection program. I hate the idea that every time something happens. Gay person gets thrown of the roof by ISIS is conflated with gays being killed by the government. Same with honor killings as terrible as they are people should be shocked to know that most of these honor killings even in countries like Pakistan end in a prosecution by government. In fact the rate of honor killings for example in Turkey or Pakistan is around the rate of Femicide in America and at most double the rate, while this may seem bad, when you look at it on paper Pakistani women are honor killed at a rate that is double females are being killed in America by their intimate partner. 600 Pakistani honor killings of women for a population of 193 million compared to 900+ killings by husbands or boyfriends in the U.S for 325 million people. While the rate in Pakistan is definitely higher than the U.S this rate was virtually the same as Pakistan’s today in the early 2000s and 1990s when crime was much higher. The thing is Pakistan’s rate is still terrible but the fact is it isn’t every Pakistani women being killed, I hate that these one of stories are used to talk about a country. Imagine if the view of Americans was presented by what goes on in Florida with people eating peoples faces off, you could present the U.S as a third world country. I hope Trump (I would have hoped Obama as well) intervenes in this situation as we cannot have an ally who won’t stand up to tyranny from members of the public. If the Islamic extremist portion of Pakistan wants her to be persecuted and an even smaller cohort of a couple thousand people will have no qualms doing it themselves. Take in mind when considering stories like this all you need is even 0.1% of a country to be extreme in beleifs 1/1000 and in a country like Pakistan that is 190,000 people to change the entire perception of a country.
Maybe the Muslims who accused this women of blasphemy aren't representative of all Muslims. Certainly there are Muslims who live in the United States who would be horrified about what has happened to this woman.
Actually they are. Muhammad’s Sunnah and the Quran demands death penalty for anyone insulting anything about Muhammad and Islam.
