I would have thought just listening to many politicians would have answered your question as to why they have been banned.

Yes,but the majority is so law enforcement has a job to do, so they can continue to fight the drug war...if they shut down the flow of drugs, that would negatively effect US law enforcement, drug arrests and convictions would grind to a halt, no more seizures, less budget money needed, less agents needed, etc etc.

Govt and the drug cartels rely on each other, the DEA is like their lobbyists and enforcers, they ensure all drugs remain illegal and the cartels have no competition.

The DEA and other narco LE, are corrupt and dirty as they come, parents should be teaching their kids to spit in the faces of any of the agents!! LOL

It doesn't appear to be working for most of them. The entire Congress is clearly in need of a mass intervention. I say send all those scoundrels off to rehab and start all over again with a clean slate.

How about instead, just do away with the drug laws altogether?!!

The Govt does NOT have the constitutional right to create or enforce ANY drug law...our history is pretty clear on how the people should respond when govt creates unconstitutional laws too!!! It may sound crazy,, but when you think about it, the drug dealers and traffickers are actually being patriotic in refusing to comply or obey drug laws.

I agree. The drug laws are not working and have never worked. You'd think that we would have learned that lesson from the massive failure of prohibition. The individual states (including my own) are starting to legalize marijuana to various degrees. I can tell you for a fact that life continues to go on in Colorado even though we now have legal pot.

It would be a much better use of the taxpayer's dollar to spend all of that money on rehab and turn people into productive members of society again than to waste it chasing after a zillion dealers and a gazillion users. Of course the private prison industry would never allow such a thing.
