Is there a point where you would ever say, "That's wrong" or, "That tattoo reflects poorly on his/her judgment?"
I get the smaller ones but the larger ones, especially the ridiculous sleeve tats, are part of the hey look at me generation. Same ones who color their hair green or have 2 foot tall hairdos. At least that can be changed easier. Just another thing to make fun of.

Well said.

I have my requisite (for former punks who reach middle age, anyway) 30 year old anarchy tattoo, but this thread makes me want to get like 5 more.

Those of us without tattoos should be encouraging people to get tattoos as it weeds out the competition when applying for jobs.

You want to reduce the number of employers willing to hire you by getting that ugly tattoo on your neck, wrists, fingers, or hands? Be my guest, go right ahead.

Hate the sin, love the sinner.

This whole thread reminds me of when I was on 4chan, and there was this thread about pornstars and tattoos. The general consensus was that, women who get tattoos are far less desirable as "actresses", whether in Hollywood, or in porn. Almost everyone wants a "clean woman" free of such trash on their bodies. So for Hollywood, they cover them up. And for porn, they just make far less money.

I think people who get tattoos either have low self-esteem, personality deficits, or personal-identity issues. They are also people desperate for attention. "Look at me, look at me".

Or in the case of some people(especially in this thread), they are overly rebellious, and would gladly cut off their nose to spite their face.

This thread is a textbook example of denial of basic sociological facts, starting with conformity and what is called "sociological imagination."
So you dress the way you dress or get a specific haircut or drive a certain car because the idea just popped into your head?

Who cares where you get your inspiration from. If people want tattoos or want to cut their hair a certain way or live in a specific neighborhood, why does it matter so much to other people? I’m glad I don’t waste my time caring what others do. How exhausting that would be.

I think the bottom line for me is that I will never understand why everybody chose to get a tattoo. So I am not going to pretend that I do. Some got it because they acted impulsively and they might regret it later (certainly it does not mean that these folks are stupid) ;some chose to do it in order to remember somebody who passed away; Special forces (like the Navy SEALs, Marine force Recon, Rangers) get their team tattoos to show brotherhood. Not everybody with tattoos is a potential MS-13 member LOL

I try not to pretend I know everybody because I don't. LOL

Plus, I still don't understand how can anybody under 35 years of age would think a tattoo to be such a big deal.

I am not a fan of tattoos and will never get one myself, but I certainly don't think everybody got a tattoo for the exact same reasons.

I don't get all super militant Antifa-ish about much, but let the conversation go negative about art, any kind of art, and I go all V for Vendetta, at least in my head.

Tattoos are art. Art...is...good.

When I had debates with friends about tattoos, this was the only one I ever agreed was acceptable. Although it should be for "personal consumption"(IE not on your face).

Not all art is good. Most "modern art" is objectively trash.
