Laws are for the little people.

DA Gascón carried guns on planes, then whistle-blower was fired, suit says

A former senior investigator says he was fired for blowing the whistle on his boss, San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón, who he alleged carried a gun while flying — in violation of federal law.

Gascón reacted with a “pattern of retaliation and harassment” that culminated in the termination of senior investigator Henry G. McKenzie on Oct. 30, 2017, according to the suit filed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco.

...
The TSA website spells out the specific criteria required for law enforcement “flying armed,” and simply being a cop doesn’t cut it. Among other things, the person must be authorized “to have the weapon in connection with assigned duties” and “have completed the TSA Law Enforcement Officer Flying Armed Training Course.”

...
When asked whether Gascón had been carrying a weapon while flying — and on what grounds — D.A. spokesman Max Szabo declined to comment, telling us, “We can’t comment on a former employee’s lawsuit.”

I'm ok with people carrying guns with them when they travel. What I'm not okay with is carrying a gun while travelling while pushing gun control and talking about how evil the 2nd amendment is...

Can’t get beyond paywalls.

How was this DA allowed to carry a gun without an appropriate waiver?

It is the same as they driving Bugatti's and Ferrari's, while they force you to ride a bike.

The ivory tower has no shame.

The scary part of that is that an accidental discharge of a gun on a plane could cause catastrophic rapid decompression.

That's why air marshals use non-standard bullets that greatly mitigate that risk.

If the allegation is true (it is a wrongful termination lawsuit after-all) then there is a problem there.

P.S. Back years and years ago when Chicago had stiff handgun regulation, the newspapers would occasionally out some connected politician or relative etc. for getting a permit to have one where the "regular folk" would never be allowed. Shocking! Shocking I say!

Reminds me of that time a couple years back when a dirty NY rag published the names of everyone who had a NY gun carry permit... many, many hypocrites on that list.

Likewise, when anyone from Hollywood attempts to lecture the country on gun control I just wanna throw up:

Owning guns is a small power but it is a power nonetheless... and the powerful will always prefer they have as much (and you have as little) power as possible.
