Trump just signed the Music Modernization Act which closes loopholes in digital royalty laws to ensure that songwriters, artists, producers, and providers receive fair payment for the licensing of music.
So you're saying that if the president does one thing that's good for someone, then they're supposed to change parties and suddenly be Trump fans now? That makes no sense. You know that, right?
I suspect it isn't about ethics nearly as much as it's about business.
Music licensing is a very big business all on its own. The licenses themselves retain value far longer than the musician's lives. There are many long dead artists whose licensed music catalog is now worth much more than when they were alive.
The digital piracy has hurt the music licensing business severely. The corporations that hold the rights to Elvis' music, for example, made much more money after his death than before he died, and the same is true with Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, and dozens of other singers who have passed on. Their music still brings in millions of dollars yearly to the companies that hold the rights to it.
So, for Trump, this bill floats all boats. Piracy is a plague on all equally, and this law will help stop it. He may have listened to the corporate bigwigs and not the performers, but that makes no difference. Good for him.
American music is one of our leading and most popular industries world-wide, and he did very well signing the bill into law!
If they had ANY type of intelligence that allowed them to avoid being vapid, brainwashed pawns they would.
