They have no right to be on this trek if their only reason is economic hardship. No one forces them to make that trek. Why do I get the feeling that if these were non-Hispanics you'd be singing a different tune?

People are people. Economic hardship can push people to do things they'd rather not do.
If these people were europeans or muslim or chinese, it would still be the same.
one more, building the wall will save us a lot of heartache with all the criminals crossing, but the immigration policy needs to change. Apparently now all they need to say is that their lives are in danger, then the magic door opens. THAT is what really needs to change. Please vote REPUBLICAN this mid year. We need the majority to get this done.
Claiming refugee status is just a tactic used by them. If they are true refugees, they would claim it in Mexico, or whatever the first country of safety they enter.
They are now advised to use this tactic in hopes of getting released into the US until their hearing, thus disappearing.
Refugees? Sure then, hold them in detention, years if needed, until their case is resolved.
There is no immigration reform needed, what reform is needed? The only thing needed is to enforce the damn laws, and quit catering to them.
It is my understanding that refugees apply for entry outside the US.
It's not causing issues for me, personally. But I sympathize with hard-working, lower-middle class families whose schools are deteriorating (and housing values dropping) due to the influx of illegal aliens.
The first law we need to change is the anchor baby law. Poor, uneducated people are coming here (often already pregnant) because they know their children, born here, will be supported cradle-to-grave by American taxpayers.
Might be a good challenge for SCOTUS. If deem constitutional, start the process to amend the Constitution.
The invasion force headed towards the border couldn't come at a worse time for democrats.

It began just days after Pence met with leaders from Honduras, San Salvador and Guatemala to let them know if they do more to prevent illegal immigration, the US will do more for them.
Looks like 1300 Hondurans did not get the memo.

Mexico's new president had better halt them before they reach the border, especially before the midterms. This is a Dem tactic to have more 'children in cages.' Optics!
Or a tactic by those who want a wall- never mind who pays for it.
As the crow flies, it’s 1,864 miles between Honduras and the US.
It will take months for this caravan to reach the US on foot.
