Can't really campaign on inheriting a strong Obama economy. The only major legislative victory the GOP has had this cycle was a permanent tax cut for corporations and a temporary individual cut tilted towards the 1% that will give us trillion dollar deficits by 2020.

Makes sense that republicans are trying to campaign on the immigration boogeyman instead

But the media isn’t alone in ignoring good news about the market or the economy more broadly. After tethering himself to the stock market for most of his first year in office, Trump has distanced himself from its performance since February’s nosedive. And after spending the first half of the year planning to campaign on the $1.5 trillion tax cut passed in late-December, since midsummer congressional Republicans have all but ignored their top legislative achievement of the Trump era. It’s now clear that, far from being a boon, the tax cut is a liability for Republicans, with Democrats using it as proof of the party’s upper-crust loyalties. Handed the strongest economy since the mid-’90s, the GOP instead has decided to campaign much like its leader did in 2016: on a platform of fear.

Because the economy wasn't strong. Make something else up.

Well lookie here, you did make something else up. The middle class and poor got tax cuts too. Not that you care about the truth.

They're running away faster from health care.

The GOP has been trying to get through the no-coverage for pre-existing conditions, and they can Trump can lie about it all they want. Only stupid voters would believe them at this point. No forced coverage and the whole house of cards collapses. That is why there is no health care reform. After 8 years of screeching about Obamacare--they have nothing.

I certainly hope they're running away from the economy. Hopefully Democrats follow them.

Why not just let the entire government detach itself from the economy and let the market take over?

At his rallies, Trump has continued to mention the low unemployment rate including the Black and Hispanic unemployment rates being at record lows.
The record low unemployment did not occur during Obama's economy, only during Trump's economy.
And Trump continue to mention that he removed more business regulations than any President in history.
Trump warns that Democrats will bring back the job-killing regulations.

The business cycle is reaching the end, and the global economy is losing steam. A recession is almost a certainty in the near future. Completely normal and nothing to be afraid of, but liberals will continue losing their minds and fearing their own shadows. America will continue being the best house in the worst neighborhood, no matter how many American flags lefties burn.

I really get a kick out of how some people distort things to their ideological perspective.

For close to Obama's full two terms, all we heard was how he inherited the bad economy Bush left behind. There were many factors involved in why our economy took a nose dive, some Bush was responsible for (i.e. unfunded mandates, Iraq war, etc.) some the Democrats were responsible for (i.e. housing market collapse, etc.). Yet we had the most anemic recovery in history with Obama never managing to break 3% in any of his eight years.
I could go on, but Obama is no longer in office.

Unlike other former presidents, Obama is out now, trying to claim credit for today's good economy.
This despite he & Hillary warning us that electing Trump would destroy the economy.
Additionally the leftists economic guru Krugman, predicted financial collapse on day one if Trump were to be elected.
So with just those three alone (there are plenty of others) they did not see what Obama and the (D's) had done as being able to survive under Trump.

Funny enough, Trump came in and ended many regulations Obama & Co had put into place (many ideologically driven, not economically wise), cut taxes, repatriated American company money overseas, threatened companies about to leave our shores, and got others to come back to invest in our people, not foreign labor. He also renegotiated bad deals and let other countries know the days of America being on the short end of the stick were over.
All those things and more, Obama never would have done.

Yet Obama has the unmitigated gall to now say "thank you Obama", as if we should be thanking him, not Trump and the Republicans.
You cannot have it both ways, claiming on the one hand thing will go to hell if the other party is elected, and then when things go great, say it was because of Obama & Co.
Furthermore, lets say 2 years into Trump the economy was just as bad or worse than when Obama left office. Do you think Obama & Co would be out on the stump taking responsibility for the bad economy?
Of course not, but that is the blatant hypocrisy of the leftist Democrats.

Yes they are running from healthcare. That "better cheaper health care for all" we were promised by this president.
I cannot for the life of me understand why many of those who need healthcare the most in Trump's rural area's will continue to vote against their own best interests.
Also many of his voters get medicare and or medicaid & SS that the GOP is looking to cut to help the deficit.
