But was calling a large number of working-class people a "basket of deplorables" any better?
Whataboutism at its finest.
The person who said ‘basket of deplorables’ is not the president. And that remark got a lot of coverage when she made it, and it probably hurt her campaign.
It's sad (really) to say but she is at least as credible as our POTUS given his extensive history of BS.
Yet, he is either fulfilling ALL of his campaign promises, or attempting to do so in spite of both his own party, and the Democrats fighting him. So, at least in his history in the public sector, he's been 100% honest.
The level of public vulgarity and low brow personal insults by the President is mind numbing. Is there any other democratic country in the world that has this kind of clown show going on by the head of state?
Trump is s despicable narcissist and sociopath. He is lower than the vast majority of life on this planet. That he continues to draw a breath is very sad. If karma is real, he’s going to be in for a heap of well deserved pain and suffering.

“Dress a breath”?
My gosh, the Left has lost control of even basic thought processes.
Being unstrung by despair will do that to ya, I guess. Oh, and just a tip: wishing pain and suffering for others does not exactly polish up one’s own karmic credentials.
Lash-out when you are attacked, I have no problem with anyone doing this.
