But honestly, would you rather live in the US or Mexico? Mexico is a step above where they are coming from, and it's a pretty small step.

I rather live in a mansion in California. Can I walk up to a mansion, and move in? Is that how it works?

How it works is that they are disappearing into our country hoping for the magic 'amnesty' wand to 'bring them out of the shadows'. It's an absolute disgrace and it's making a mockery out of people who immigrated the legal way.

That's a legal application rate of roughly 1 in 4. You consider that a high percentage? If we apply that same ratio to the current group, that's about 1000 out of 4000. Where do the other 3000 people go?

Anyway, that was then, this is now. This caravan is currently about 4000 people - larger than any other caravan by far. So we'll see.

Like I said, if they enter legally, I don't have a problem with it.
The caravan was around 1500 people.

a few hundred reached the US border.

401 requested asylum
374 of those demonstrated credible fear (pre requisite to requesting asylum) DHS says it is not tracking how many of those who applied for asylum were granted it.
122 were apprehended trying to illegally enter (no data on whether any were subsequently granted asylum)

I just don't understand why they are allowed to enter at all. Do they interview them at the gate as to whether or not they have a valid asylum request? How do they prove it?

I think they should have to stay in Mexico until their claims can be verified. By allowing them in here we have to provide them with their needs at the taxpayer expense, assign them a court date and most don't even show up for them so we are stuck with them as we can't find them. We need a different system in place for asylum seekers so this nonsense above does keep occurring.

For all their bluster about us being the most powerful nation in the world, Trump supporters sure cower in fear at the mere thought of even seeing people from other countries. It's ridiculous.

They at least pose a fiscal threat or do you think they don't require food, housing, medical care, etc.?
If you don't think that some aren't unsavory characters then you aren't dealing in reality either. They were offered refuge in Mexico along with jobs but most turned that down. Why is that? There are many safe places in Mexico.

At any rate fleeing your country just because of lack of economic opportunity is not a viable reason to seek asylum here. Fear? Why do you people keep using that word? If there is any fear it's certainly not irrational. How much higher do our taxes have to go supporting foreigners in our country? We already support them by sending a lot of money to their countries. It's not irrational fear to be wary of some that may not good people either. Where's your proof that they are all innocent or unarmed? Yet you keep making this claim. Opinions mean nothing. You cannot make a claim like that without knowing for sure.

You must have some kind of vested interest in filling up our country with Latinos. That's usually the case when one so vehemently defends illegal immigration from that ethnic group and cheering on thousands of so-called asylum seekers when even in the past most are rejected because their claims are bogus. Why don't you own up to your own racism on this matter instead of making fun of and demonizing Americans who have valid reasons for the way they feel none of which is based on racism. Look in the mirror and be honest about yourself for once!

Calling on all Democrats here- we are looking for people to help house these migrants!

This is an emergency. We need liberals to house families of 9 or more. There may be boiling innards or all-night beer parties, but it's part of the culture, so just overlook it. In time, you may even come to enjoy it. Working American families have had to deal with it for decades, so you should be able to.

On the plus side, you can get your toilet cleaned, your lawn mowed or your children looked after for pennies on the dollar!

Third migrants’ caravan scheduled to leave El Salvador within the next week

The number of migrants traveling through Mexico could soon reach 10,000

The third wave, believed to have been inspired by the caravan now traveling through Chiapas, is scheduled to leave El Salvador on October 28 and cross the border into via Tecún Umán, Guatemala, according to one report.

Hey we want all of you right wingers to build a nice jail cell in your garage. You are all already armed so keeping a felon or two should not be a big problem. And you all know that you right wingers want those guys locked up for a long time. So put a quarter of your garage to work keeping those felons off the public dole...just like the illegals.

You can just keep them naked and hose them down every week or two so it does not become a time consuming task. And certainly the right wing doctors will volunteer to keep them healthy...after all it is their civic duty.

We won't have to. You'll have them all employed in your service shortly! So happy for you! Your bills will be cut in half!

At first, I was a bit worried about this, I now don't think it is an issue. The odds are looking very good for Republicans and I think we will end up sweeping. Sorry Demonrats!

So you right wingers are showing your hypocrisy? You refuse to do your civic duty and house a few felons for the goals you all claim to love? You do not really want all the bad black and brown guys locked up?

And most service industry owners I know are right wing. You did not know that?
