We probably need to be cruel to be kind here and focus efforts on helping to actually make things better in Latin America.
That part of the post says it all.

At last count, there are six caravans in total, each of them thousands of people in number. They are actively choosing to overwhelm the border's ability to process their application for asylum. Most of them will be denied because they refused Mexico's offer for asylum, immediately casting into question the validity of their presumed plight. If each caravan is about 5,000 strong, that's 30,000 people with new caravans forming up and heading towards Mexico as things continue to develop. It isn't much of a stretch to imagine that we'll see a 100,000 person strong mass of humanity camped out on our border before this is done. The human caravans will not end until it is made very clear that it won't get them what most of them want: Illegal entry into the United States for purely economic reasons.

That number of people camping in Tijuana will lead to riots and breakdown of law and order. Both Mexico and the migratns are enganged in a game of chicken, counting on the US to blink first and let them in. They still don't beleive Trump can stop them. Judging by these half baked plans that are being floated, I am not sure the migrants are wrong. The only way out is for Mexico to turn on them and that needs time. Who blinks first remains to be seen.

Now if you excuse me, I am going back to reading the much anticipated government climate report.

This is Trump's moment. If he screws this up, his entire base will turn on him. This is the number one thing that he was elected to do: Stop illegal immigration. For their part, Mexico stands to take a gigantic kick to the crotch economically if Trump decides to temporarily close the border. Mexico really needs to get this right. Mexican people are demanding that their government build a wall on their southern border, and they probably should do exactly that. Mexico wants to see an end to this craziness. The caravans rushed the Guatemalan/Mexican border, forcing their way in -- proving that their borders are not secure enough. They thought they could do the same thing once they got to the US/Mexican border, but it turns out that they can't. The Mexicans and the Americans are both determined to keep them from crossing into the United States at this point, each for their own good reasons. It's actually the Mexican police/military standing there stopping them from rushing the points of entry right now. We haven't had to find out how ugly this gets when the US military and ICE have to deal with them.

It's a lot of people and it would be no easy task to stop them whenever 50,000 of them get sick of waiting and decide to rush the border. If that day comes, that's gonna get ugly. Until then, it's a long waiting game. The longer they're there, the more the Mexican people will grow to hate them. These are people who intentionally chose to be right where they are even though they have no right to be there. There was no talking them out of it. Now they have to learn the hard way that they'll get jack squat nothing for their troubles.

Cannot rep you again but I agree with most of your post. I do wonder if this will get heated up to the point of using force, we'll see.

It should never have come to this, but there's nothing we could have done on our side of the border and country to stop these illegals from coming to the Tijuana border.

Sadly, it's gearing up to be a lose-lose situation for all involved including President Trump.

The nightmare scenario as mentioned above is if these illegals decide to storm the borders. But I don't think that will happen because even the illegals themselves know that this would make them look bad in the eyes of the world media. The world media is already fawning over them because they are supposedly escaping persecution back home, it would not look good if the illegals then decided to use force and violence.

Let these illegals in, and all it does is show how weak we are and it will only encourage more to do the same in the future.

Thrice-deported Honduran with a police record throws rocks at CBP officers and set a fire to avoid capture after sneaking in yesterday. Lovely. Cream of the crop.

According to an organizer for Sin Fronteras, there is a plan to bum rush the border today at noon. I desperately hope this is nothing more than a rumor.
