Experts say California needs to build a lot more housing. But the public disagrees - Los Angeles Times

Outside of the L.A. forum, what do folks think of this issue? And not just in L.A.

Is this just old folks trying to keep L.A. the same? Terrified of change?

If our immigration laws were enforced and the border controlled properly we could TEAR DOWN some housing.

You live in a quiet, desirable community and your property has appreciated nicely over the decades. Why would you want a glut of higher density housing creating more traffic, bigger crowds everywhere you go, bigger class sizes, more noise, etc all effectively in the name of devaluing your property and shrinking your nest egg to make the area more affordable?

Why? Why have a bunch of un-needed housing taking up space that could be a park or a garden?

How many housing units do you think would be freed up by the removal of 3 million illegals ? (and all their assorted hangers-on).

Not many, they’re often living very high density with at times 20 people to a 3 bed house or living dorm style on the farms they work.

The housing should be built by the people not the state. This isn’t Soviet Russia.

When you live in the second biggest city in the U.S., you kindof gotta expect to act like.. Well the second biggest city in the U.S.

People still think it's 1952 and wonder why traffic is bad COL is more expensive.

Well IDK, something about keeping the city stagnant all these decades and not creating an alternative to driving? The very root of the problem is caused by the very people voting against the solutions.

And I get it. You lived here a good minute. Sucks but things change. L.A. needs change it's very nature as a city because we are so far behind.

You could actually make more room for a park and garden. It's sprawled out too much, and that actually causes less room.

Well this is just getting rid of various restrictions on buildings. Not asking to gov to supply us.
