They like the idea thinking that its cheap based on their own experience with it. But its not cheap, its 11K+/person/year and it still underpays providers by 20-50%.

I agree with you.

A 100% free-market system would fix 99.99999% of the problems with healthcare in this country.

Starts with price transparency. Republicans didn't do a damn thing on that

I suspect that most conservatives, whether they identify as traditionalist or libertarian, oppose socialized (and bureaucratized) medicine, because they feel it will diminish their options and send them to the end of a long waiting line -- filled with all the special-interest groups who benefit from the power structure of "identity politics", and more than a few of whom got there via their own poor choices.

But whether one agrees with that assessment or not, most of the astute among us eventually realize that medical care is de facto rationed, via the HMOs and the like. But this doesn't change the fact that "Medicare for all" adds one more layer of bureaucracy to the mix. A vigilant, better-educated adult, more likely to both live a healthier lifestyle, and to have contacts within the medical profession, can still act in his own interest to some degree, And "Medicare for all" would serve only to negate that (self-made) advantage, and increase the anxiety and perception of powerlessness.

It's not the responsibility of the State to require price transparency. It's up to the consumers to do the research.

Socialist healthcare is a complete sham, and you're spot-on about the bureaucracy required to operate it.

Bunch of GD socialists. Rot in hell.
In theory I support single payer but I don't trust our politicians (Democrats) to control who enters into the system....the Libs will bring in millions of AIDS patients from Africa and me to pay for it along with the rest of the tax payers.

When you offer something for free most people will say okay... The smart ones don't believe it and will say no... The Democrats will defend it and continue to argue for it while Republicans after finding out the truth of it will reject it... That's the important part of it...

Next time you get in an accident, make sure you stop the ambulance and call all the hospitals in town to figure that out

And fat trump supporters will end up costing more in healthcare to be subsidized by us younger, healthier blue voters
