Lots of opinions here on C-D. It's always good to get some outside viewpoints.
David Gergen, former adviser to Presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan and Clinton:
"Trump has unleashed the dogs of hatred in this country,"
Former Republican strategist Steve Schmidt:
"Trump has stoked a cold civil war in this Country. His rallies brim with menace and he has labelled journalists as enemies of the people. That someone would seek to kill their political enemies is not aberrational but rather the inevitable consequence of Trumps incitement."
And as always, hearing it straight from the man himself is always best. That way there can be no confusion about his position.
Current President of the United States Donald Trump:
"I’d like to punch him in the face"
"Maybe he should have been roughed up"
"Part of the problem...is no one wants to hurt each other anymore"
"I don’t know if I’ll do the fighting myself or if other people will"
"The audience hit back. That’s what we need a little bit more of"
"If you do (hurt him), I’ll defend you in court, don’t worry about it"
"I’ll beat the crap out of you"
"Knock the crap out of him, would you? I promise you, I will pay your legal fees”
"If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know."
"Any guy that can do a body slam, he's my kind of ... He was my guy."
"I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose any voters"
and this is the President, how sad is that? What a lunatic.
The guy has been doing nothing for 16 years and now this week he goes crazy.
He's a Republican -- Democrats were the targets.
He probably voted for Trump.
Does make this Trump responsible for THIS guy -- no.
What Trump has to own though is his part in the violent rhetoric.
And before you get all deranged on me -- I didn't say it is all Trump's fault....but there is a climate of incivility that is most definitely promoted by Trump's behavior -- in addition to others.
No the media doesn't create that incivility......they do not suggest they will hit him harder when he attacks them.
They will criticize his trade policy or lack of health care resolution -- but that's not exactly violent rhetoric.
He's a rabid Trump supporter. Probably couldn't pour **** out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the heel.
Why would you think he'd be any better at making a working bomb?

No, the media just refuses to call out Democrats like Maxine Waters and her rhetoric, while they rush to condemn Trump's.
