Angela Merkel not seeking re-election as Germany's chancellor, term ends in 2021. Her immigration policy did her in.

Angela Merkel had a fantasy of how the world should work and now its met the reality of how it works.

Her immigration policy may have done her in but there's a good chance the person who replaces her will have an even more liberal immigration policy than she did. The man who was the primary leader for the opposition in her last victory had a more pro refugee policy than her by a fair amount. Germans really had no choice in that regard, except for fringe parties that will immediately have you labeled a neo Nazi if you're known to support them.

She is falling to the same forces that passed Brexit, elected Presidents Trump and Macron, that new guy in Brazil, brought conservative parties into office in Poland, Austria and Hungary.

Resentment to large scale and especially illegal immigration is the most visible part of this phenomenon but only the tip of it. As has been said endlessly since 2016, it's rooted in the separation of the elites from the people they govern. Often governing without regard to the interests and feelings of the people they nominally represent.

This is the alienation decried by intellectuals in the 1950's (but never experienced by any but they themselves) come to maturity in a wholly unexpected form and blind-siding the people who thought they knew better.

That's right. Merkel is head of Germany's conservative party. Conservatives in Europe would be called wild-eyed, crazed Socialists in the US. They make Bernie look like a right winger.

The damage is done and she'll get on with her life without suffering the consequences of her policies. So it goes with politicians.

Bye Bye bloody Merkel! Finally! The AFD is making huge gains as well. We will see a push back on insane leftist extremism in Brazil, Canada, the UK, Italy, and other countries soon enough.

I am not blaming Merkel. I blame whomever funds her, and pulls her strings to ruin Germany, and their culture by actively importing Muslim refugees that will never assimilate nor embrace Germany. Who is behind the curtain?
