Do you think speech NO MATTER how mean,"racist",bigoted,hateful,angry etc should be allowed? Its PRETTY CLEAR a HUGE chunk of leftists here and on other forums I am on and in general think because something hurts their feelings or is mean,"racist",bigoted,hateful etc should be BANNED and companies allowing freedom of speech should be shut down and censored. What say you?
I say unless a person is THREATENING someone or something they should be allowed to say what they want. Allowing people to vent does 2 things.
1. It allows MOST people to vent online and that way they don't do violent things,granted there will ALWAYS be a handful of angry people who take their violence to the streets from the Synagogue killer to ANTIFA but that doesn't mean we shut down free speech
2. It allows law enforcement and others to flag someone who MIGHT be planning something violent and can be stopped before hand. We all saw the story from Kentucky where the woman reported a man for his comments to her and he was planning a school shooting...without social media and his comments he would have shot up a school leaving who knows how many dead.

I don't know many people in that age group, other than my grandkids, but I can assure you, those two understand free speech.
I support property rights which means whoever owns the platform controls the content. Having said that, I think its a mistake when a media based or social platform bans diversity of opinion and outliers.
Stop right there. You are trying to create a false equivency.
ANTIFA is bad, I'm not a fan, and I think they've done a LOT to take away from civil discourse. I'll give you that.
But this is SO WRONG:
To my knowledge, Antifa has not killed anyone. If I'm wrong, I know someone will correct me. But the one definite difference is that ANTIFA goes after people who are sewing hate, and who are typically marching at the peril of others. The "Synagogue killer" (and the "Charleston Church Shooter" and others) went into a place of worship, and fired on unsuspecting people who were in a place of sanctuary.
Hate ANTIFA all you want, I probably won't argue much. But don't try to equivocate them with these sick people who go in and cowardly shoot an unsuspecting bunch of people who are praying for peace.
People like you are the reason that there are millions of people who try to legitimize Trump's message of violence toward anyone who does not look or sound like others.
I agree. I think the problem we face is what to do with people who exhibit hateful speech and behavior before they commit crimes. If a person believes if free speech, they may not want to squawk on a nutjob who drives around with pictures of bullseyes over politician’s faces plastered over his van windows.
We could say that nutjobs need to be followed around by the FBI, but we would need to hire millions of FBI agents to track all the nutjobs out there.
We could require nutjobs to have a mental evaluation, but that would raise issues of invasion of privacy. Also, what do we do with the certified nutjobs? Build thousands of mental hospitals?
So...no easy solution oher than be vigilant and protect yourself to the extent you see fit, i.e. carry a concealed weapon, don’t open suspicious packages, get restraining orders, etc.
