To which I was asked if convicted pedophiles should be allowed to be around kids.

See, the Left wants it both ways....

They want to let pedophiles and other felons out of prison and restore just enough of their rights that they can use them as a voting base.

And that is exchanging the kid's safety for votes.

Waitaminnit! The left? In regards to FL's Amendment 4 allowing felons who served their time the right to vote that ballot initiative needed to clear the 60% ballot threshold for it to pass.

Surely you're not suggesting a state who voted in a person for gov with ties to white supremacists left that particular ballot initiative to ""the left" to take care of it? If that was the case Gillum would have been the winner as well, no?

To me it clearly shows that both sides voted for Amendment 4 and that is why it passed.

OP, that is the left's talent. Dig out votes from outcasts. Majority of black vote dem. Lots of felons are black. More votes for dems.

When you add up all the pockets of support for the dems...Trump's reign may be the last hurrah for the reps.

My neighbor is a felon who has served his time. He's a Republican.

What purpose is served by taking away a felon's 2nd Amendment rights?

If they have served their debt to society shouldn't they get their gun rights back?

JFK said that the ignorance of one voter can endanger the republic.

If we can't trust felons with guns, why can we trust them with electing people? Some states block felons from holding certain elected offices as well. Many felons are blocked from certain jobs. If they aren't responsible enough to hold certain jobs, offices, etc...why are they responsible enough to vote?

I see both sides and am not arguing one way. I am just stating that the majority of felons that vote will vote Democratic. So this will push Democrats to supporting felon voting, because it helps them win. Republicans gain from keeping the status quo, because felons will vote for Democrats.

Exactly. Why do some people assume that felons are all going to vote Democrat? If Democrats supported this proposal for that reason, they may get a big surprise.

Restoring voting rights puts Florida in play for 2020. Republicans are spooked.

Heck, Scott stole BILLION - biggest frauds in history. He votes.

BTW, lots of white trash in FL are felons. They paid their price (often for "crimes" that are not crimes) and they should be able to fully participate in society.

Heck, our MILITARY lets those people kill and die......

" documents also show that waivers for serious misdemeanors increased from 3,002 in 2005 to 8,259 in 2007. The most serious criminal misconduct charges include burglary, narcotics/drug charges, aggravated assault, larceny, and breaking and entering."

How many hard core criminals actually want to vote? I think those who will take advantage of the reinstituted right to vote will mostly be white collar types.

Why is it always Florida making trouble for America? Maybe we need to cut it and CA loose.

If Donald Trump can occupy the White House, felons should be allowed to VOTE!
